Agree with the writer below, one of the best tutorial videos of its kind. Clear, unhurried, detailed without being too technical, nice clear photography and crisp audio, if only the others could follow this formula, this really is the definitive way, thank you! I have a real workhorse RCA tablet, same model as presented here so I shall archive this tutorial in the unfortunate event that I may need it, I feel confident now that I could deal with most most issues, the correct disassembly and finicky details are all so well demonstrated. Whilst on the subject, I have to say that my RCA Voyager, with an Apple clone launcher, has been superbly reliable and has done all I've asked from it and more. The various terrible reviews written about the Voyager were grossly unfair and as proven completely incorrect. I challenge anyone to produce a mini super computer of equal quality for the same unbelievable price, mine was about $ 40.00. If you can afford $ 1,500.00 for a "better" brand, good luck to you, I can't. I am grateful to RCA for bringing this technology to the poorer of the Nation, people who would never have been able to afford anything similar. So, stuff your arrogant reviews! Fantastic ! Perfect execution! Didn't say "guys" once! Went in orderly manner with just enough explanation for each step., I didn't scream "get on with it!", once. It wasn't like asking the time and getting a treatise on making a watch like many of these videos.. Great audio, also rare. Organized linear steps make it easy to back up a bit to clarify a point. I now know where and what the components are how and get to them safely. I'm sure I could and likely will do this if mine fails. All tutorial posters need to watch this if for no other reason than how to create a useful, information packed video tutorial that is clear, doesn't waste my time or talk over my head. great job!

Dude. Awesome vid! Thank you so much for this, you saved my tookus. I have the Trio Stealth G2 and the guts look EXACTLY the same as the RCA in your vid. Actually I have 2 and one of them (the one with the messed up power button, just like yours) is being used now for parts.Just swapped out the guts on the one with the cracked screen with the one with the bad power button. Only difference was they had glued the battery in instead of adhesive strips. Thanks again, you rock.

I used a heat-gun and it worked great! What to do is to apply heat very carefully. That is because you'll have to only apply toward the middle of the screen on the outside. Then use an old charge card, or something like it, and put pressure with the plastic card's edge, between the screen and the frame. Then wash up with paint thinner, and use alcohol 70% to clean up. Thanks.

I have two of these tablets one with a cracked screen and one with the power button broken from the logic board. I have replaced a screen on a iPod touch 4th gen. so I figured this was going to be about the same after watching your video this looks easier. But the one with the power button problem is going to need a new one. The whole back of the button is completely shot all that is left is the metal piece and the black front of it. Watched your video to see how to completely disassemble a tablet. Had a problem with my Kacaso 9100 not turning on. All my research pointed to bad battery. I have ordered and changed the battery and now have power to the tablet but the screen will not come on. Any ideas would be appreciated. Video was very helpful on how to take the tablet apart.

The tablet I'm working on had the power button fail, but now that piece is damaged and it looks like the black tab piece is missing?? I use a hot air rework station but a heat gun from ebay, Harbor Freight, amazon or etrade supply. It sounds like its your glass and LCD that are damaged.

So um i used a pocket knife to remove the battery and i bent it a little i mean a lot and now it's all wrinkly but mostly flat. Will it still work?Also the tablet wont charge at all and the little reciever looking things in the charging port are standing except for one thats not even there but theres a spot there where its supposed to be and thats why i looked up a fix

I replaced the screen in my daughter's tablet and it powers on normally, however the touch screen part no longer functions. When I investigated I discovered the clamp holding the digitizer cable in place is apparently damaged and will not seat properly. Is there some other way to hold the digitizer cable firmly enough in place to enable the touch screen once again? Thanks in advance. Rodney

Rod Owen That is a tough situation. I would suggest some strong tape or possibly gluing the bottom side of the cable to the board.

I ordered the screen however it looks physically larger than the actual one. It looks like it sits over the lip of the plastic frame. Do you have a specific part number/ place to order from so I can get the exact size screen for the same tablet that appears on your video? Or do you recommend I use the one I have. It sticks out about 1/8 of an inch at the sides and 1/16 of an inch on the top and bottom. Thanks!

Matthew Murray It should not affect powering on only the sound...The red and black are positive and negative so they do need to be put back into the correct spots.

My RCA Tablet has no screws... it is a Pro10 and I have no idea how to get beyond removing the broken digitizer... which I have done, but now I can not get below the LCD to "the works" to remove and reconnect the ribbon cable... any thoughts or other RCA videos to address this?

I have not seen this tablet disassembled so I am unsure sorry....I would guess that there is a seam around the outside like the one in this video....It should be help by clips that could be unclipped with an opening tool or guitar pick.

Skip when you have it open take a look at the charging connector.... is it a bit loose i would maybe recommend trying to soldering it back in place. just like he showed for the power button in the video.... dont get the iron too hot cause again its very delicate are...... im no expert persay but that would be my first thought

Ok.. So if the screen is getting the lines threw it and is white it will be the LCD cable getting loose but if there is a crack going threw the screen (half is white other is reg display) that means the LCD is cracked/broken correct?

Brandon Spencer That is accurate trouble shooting, with the lines it could also mean the ribbon cable is damaged and might need a new display.

Soleil Quiles Some have better adhesive than others, if you push the pry tool under the areas I did it should come off relatively easy.

Moon Dragon Yes, follow this tutorial and replace the screen. Even if the glass is not broken it seems more than likely the digitizer (touch portion) is broken under the glass.

Can you help me? I have the RCA 7" tablet, voyager I think. Very cheap at walmart. Broke the LCD to pieces. Cant see anything. RCA will fix my broken LCD for $20 but the service tech said they do a factory restore to make sure it all functions properly. Saved websites and pics will be wiped out. I would order the LCD replacement screen for $23.95 but it ships from China and last time I did that it took 42 days to come in. Not to mention tablet may be broken/nonfunctioning. Can't tell. Anyway I hooked it up to library computer with USB cord but I cant access files through 'my computer". Does not show up. No plug and play....How can I get my data then??

Mine is cracked, but not on the outside. The screen is really messed up on the inside. There's stuff that looks like cracks, but it isn't. Every time I touch the screen, I can see it quaking. I am assuming it is impossible to fix.
