Howa Mini Action Chassis Rifle

If anyone is wondering. The new MDT ten round magazines doesn’t work with this chassis. It is straight. But has a large bulge that sticks out. The magazine release contacts the bulge before you can get it fully inserted.

I have Howa Mini-Action 20 inch #6 contour barrel in 6.5 Grendel. The 5 round 7.62x39/6.5 Grendel magazine is unreliable. I get 1 to 2 failures to extract almost every time I load 5 rounds in the. I've had the rifle for 13 months. The Legacy Sports International magazines are also expensive when you compare them to Blued Steel 5, 10, and 20 round Mini-30 magazines and other polymer AK (7.62x39)style magazines such as Tapco, Magpul, Promag, etc. Even the polymer .308 10 round AICS mags cost less and are far more reliable. I am looking forward to the development of a Howa Mini-Action Chassis system or Aluminum Bedding block adjustable stock system that doesn't use L.S.I.'s proprietary Mini-Action magazines. Once you get past the magazine issue, it's awesome.

OCL Sportsman I totally agree, why can’t howa make 10 round mags for this chassis, I would totally buy it!! And the plastic 5 round mags are not reliable and too expensive!!

I would totally buy this howa mini action if they developed more options for mags!! The plastic mags looks cheap and not reliable enough and are too expensive, so that’s a big fail howa!! I look forward to see what you’ll do for the next generation of this rifle!

I've had a ton of issues with my Howa mini in 6.5 Grendel..it came from the factory with a cracked trigger guard/magazine assembly right where the rear action screw goes making it impossible to achieve any kind of torque setting...the barrel was touching the stock from the chamber all the way to the end of the forend...the bolt was hard to open and close for the first 50 rounds but has since gotten a bit easier...haven't had any feeding issues but the magazines feel very flimsy and load weird...you have to push the front of the cartridges down at a weird angle in order to slide another cartridge over the top of the bottom one...biggest issue with the mags are they cost $45 and are only five round capacity...the magazine release is in a bad location as I've accidentally bumped the latch and had my magazine fall out on the ground... perhaps they just need a stiffer spring on the mag catch?...the rings that came with the Nikko Sterling scope are garbage and somehow came loose after 50 rounds forcing me to re-zero on my second outing with the rifle...ended up having to glass bed the rear Tang and recoil lug to make this rifle shoot to my expectations

This was my first How's and will be my last...the rifle shoots very accurate now that I've put some work into it but if I had to do it again I'd go with the CZ 527...only reason I bought the Howa was because I didn't want to ruin the beautiful Walnut stock on the CZ since I'm hard on my rifles...I regret it...my advise is buy the CZ 527 or wait for Ruger to release the American ranch in 6.5 Grendel if that's the caliber you desire

It boggles my mind why no one in the gun industry will cater beyond a token gesture to the 30% of the world's population that is left eye dominant. If just one of these companies would stop using the excuses of volume and actually make a product that a significant number of their customers are looking to buy, they would find a huge untapped market. Want to know why left-hand gun sales are so poor? Because no one makes left hand guns for anyone to buy. You can't sell what you don't make.

I am dismayed that 10 round mags are not available in 6.5 Grendel and 7.62X39. Does NOT make ANY sense and it sending me to Ruger for a 7.62x39 and if I can only have a 5 round mag for my 6.5 Grendel I will choose a CZ 527. Too bad you cannot seem to offer 10 round mags for the Grendel and the x39. Baffles me as to your reasoning but turns me off to Howa rifles regardless of the quality and accuracy.

Yes. And nothing bigger than 5 rounds in the 7.62/6.5 chamberings.

Can you help me out figuring out the twist rate for the mini-action in .223? The Legacy catalog says 1 in 8", but all vendors say 1 in 9". Which one is it truly? Thank you!

past .223 is 1-9". 2018 version will be changing to 1-8"
