Wow. His voice as an older man is way sweeter than it was back in the 80s. This song was great back in the day with the synths, but the solo piano rendition is sublime.

Greetings from Ireland 🇮🇪,, l played the live aid recording of this to my 90 year old Mum today after having lunch in our local pub and I have to say I became very emotional, it transported me back to that warm summer day as a 16 year old with no responsibilities other than doing homework, living in a happy home with brothers and sisters arguing over who gets to see what on our 1 TV 📺....no mobile phones, no TV's in every room, 1 car in the driveway, neighbours who had children the same age as you and 1 landline phone beside the front door.....to survive we need to go back to a more simple life , that is our future,

I've just listened to the 1985 Live Aid version when Howard was a young man, and this is like going on a time warp to 2020 just to hear it again. The piano playing isn't as spectacular and flamboyant as in 1985, but his voice is way better. I love this piece. It's a little bit of heaven.

Back in the '80s when I was a teenager, I naively thought anyone could play keyboards like Howard Jones and bought one, but that was a big mistake. This video shows what a great musician he is. He is "playing" with the song, adds some improvisation, etc., and on top of that, his voice has not changed at all. Chapeau Howard Jones!

Now I have made a cover of this song with all the bells and whistles in Pro Tools. I may put it on my channel soon, if possible.

I went to the Henry Wood Hall (a former church, used by the Scottish National Orchestra for practice) in Glasgow to see him about 1990. He only had a piano and a girl on percussion, but it was fantastic - he was so down to earth and spoke to everyone who approached him at the end of the concert - truly unforgettable.

Since 1984 I have 3 kids and they ALL know that it's my wish that this song MUST be played at my funeral :) In some way ...this song say that they (my kids) are a part of me....and they shall never forget. It's strange that i decided this 10 years before my first child was born.......
