I'd rather watch one Tomorrow Show or NYC tv news with Tom than a hundred Stern episodes, especially the old ones.

I like Tom Snyder, but can you imagine if Bob Costas did this interview? That would have been a sight to see. Also, Costas would have interviewed Howard Stern and Rush Limbaugh on back to back days. Bob came back to interview Rush after this Snyder-Stern interview.
@ClevelandLiveMusic4 жыл бұрын
As I edited these I thought the same thing. I recorded Later from both NBC and CNBC. The episode CNBC showed in between Stern and Rush was Costas interviewing Snyder in 1989.- brilliant!

The only thing that would make this better is if this had been a Christmas episode, with a Christmas tree behind and in between them and classic Christmas tunes playing as they go to and come back from commercial breaks.

Howard Stern made drive time fun, that's for sure. Tom Snyder was a funny guy too, in his own very restrained way, even here where he actively disliked Stern. The big difference between the two is that there is plenty of Howard Stern material available, but Tom's much more subtle material seems to have been obliterated.

This might have been not very long after Stern learned Transcendental Meditation™ and calmed down.

@@JohnJohnson-mo4bn TM doesn't change the personality or goals. It simply brings deep rest to eliminate stress-related problems. You may find Howard Stern annoying, but he certainly has energy to accomplish his goals. I've been practicing TM for 51 years.
@JohnJohnson-mo4bn3 жыл бұрын
@@david203 Why would you assume that I think Howard Stern is annoying? I was merely pointing out how way off you were on another assumption (time period Howard started TM).
@david2033 жыл бұрын
@@JohnJohnson-mo4bn I didn't know this interview was from 1990, and I did make an assumption concerning the meaning of your posting due to its brevity. I was a fan of Stern's for many years, but not so much that I can remember when each of his interviews happened. But if you would like to insult me, I'm sure I've provided enough raw material--go for it.

The hostility is downright palpable here. As a Stern fan in the '90s, I probably would have agreed with Wiggy that Tom Snyder was being "out of touch", but knowing what I know now about the star fucking old closet queen 30 years down the line, it looks like Tom had X-ray vision about the huckster hypocrite.
@david2033 жыл бұрын
Tom was out of touch, he was also from an older generation, with different and less open values. Stern sometimes made fun of his parents, but they were loving people who prepared him for a truly autonomous and self-defined career.

@@david203 Stern was a schoolyard bully who manged to turn it into a multi-million dollar industry. Soembody should have mopped the floor up with him live on his own show back when they had the chance. Tiny Tim came close.
