Howard Zinn tells the real story of expansion and how the United States expanded its global dominance in this excerpt from a lecture filmed on April 17, 1990. Originally shared on the internet Archive.
Howard Zinn (August 24, 1922 - January 27, 2010) was an American historian, playwright, and socialist thinker. He was chair of the history and social sciences department at Spelman College,[1] and a political science professor at Boston University. Zinn wrote over 20 books, including his best-selling and influential A People's History of the United States. In 2007, he published a version of it for younger readers, A Young People's History of the United States.[2]
Zinn described himself as "something of an anarchist, something of a socialist. Maybe a democratic socialist."[3][4] He wrote extensively about the Civil Rights Movement, the anti-war movement and labor history of the United States. His memoir, You Can't Be Neutral on a Moving Train (Beacon Press, 2002), was also the title of a 2004 documentary about Zinn's life and work. Zinn died of a heart attack in 2010, at age 87.

Howard Zinn always spoke "truth to power". I recently found a newer copy of his classic book "People's History Of America" at one of the local goodwills. I knew it would be a heavy read because of all the unspeakable atrocities committed by our government so i've been putting off reading it til this upload. ! Thank U!

At the 10 minute mark, everyone back in 1990 laughs when told president William McKinley didn't know where the Philippines were. Folks, get used to hearing about ignorance by presidents who are belligerent, abusive creeps. In 30 years, it'll be commonplace.
