This movie tells the story of a musical(Tick, Tick… Boom!) that details the creation of another musical(Superbia) while inspiring events a completely different musical(Rent). Dang, that’s Inception deep!

What makes me happiest is knowing Sondheim's last words on film were 'Be proud'. A beautifully simple message to send everyone he inspired, and how we all hope he felt in his last days. Proud.

Even though most of these details go unnoticed for most of the audience and they have no idea why we freak out, lin and his team decided to pay attention to every single detail and make it accurate. It made it so much more special. I want every movie musical to be like this. It was a beautiful tribute to musical theatre and Jonathan larson.

Lin's tweet "As long as I've got a job, you've got a job." is a reference to a famous West Wing line, a show Lin's has mentioned being in love with many times and that stars Bradley Whitford who played Sondheim.

For someone who knows zero about musical theater, TTB and videos like this have been fun to watch. Broadway seems to be more of a community than industry, and you can feel that in Lin-Manuel's film like the heat off a bonfire. It'll be years before the last Easter egg is found 😄

Not just the Friends In Deed group - earlier, Jonathan mentions friends who have died by name...Ali, Gordon, and Pam. Who are some of the people who introduce themselves at the beginning of the Life Support song. That gave me a start when I heard it.

Here’s something else that’s cool- the drummer in the band onstage at the workshop is actually the drummer playing on the songs. An even cooler thing- he’s a Broadway drummer and has created the drum parts for some the biggest musicals of all time, such as Hamilton, Book of Mormon, Frozen, etc. his name is Sean McDaniel!

the Sondhaim cameo on the answering machine makes me so soft, i couldn't begin to imagine what Mr. Sondheim must've felt while recording that audio and going back to those days when he saw the inmense potential and passion Jonathan Larson had on musical theater, both of this men loved their work so much and this movie is beautiful way to remember them

What I especially loved about Bernadette's cameo is her wearing the hat from Sunday in the Park and the fact that Jonathan leads her forward on the word "light." She sang "Color and Light" in the show and it's also an overarching theme.

This is wonderful work. However, you missed one more reference. When the power goes out in JL's apartment, he lights a candle. In Rent, the power goes out and then there is a song called "Light My Candle." I smiled when I saw that, and I am smiling now realizing that I caught that Easter egg and no one else did. 😉
