I taught my Sun Conure how to do this in less than 24 hours!!!! Worked like a charm and I used dehydrated fruit from his feed, broken into tiny pieces, as a reward. Me and his bond is really strong though, and I think that played a huge role in his learning so quickly.

I have a medium to strong bond with my green cheeked conure and she got the gist of this trick within three or four tries. I didn’t want to do too much at once as she could lose interest, but after three days she has basically got it down !! We’re fine tuning it now, as 3 times outta 10 she needs the finger movement of my opposite hand to encourage her to lift her foot. But excellent training method, and extremely effective

Working on this with my lovebird. I think he feels betrayed when I pull away from step up halfway through. We made small progress though as he touches on talon on my finger without fully stepping up. Problem is when I try to phase out my hand he wont "waive".

Viktoria's Pets.... thats not at all whats going to happen. The bird is going to get used to the sound of the pen, not the pen itself. Also unless you work at home and for some reason have a desk right next to your birds cage, no one uses a pen every day. Please dont go around commenting random stuff to try to discourage people. A pen is an amazing substitute for a clicker.

Yes first have a chat with ur bird he will get used to u the put ur finger through the bars in this process DO NOT put ur and in the cage every change the sid were u put ur finger then move on to the hand feeding part do it every day then he'll fly to u cause he knows u will reward him then try to scratch his/hers head

Start with target training then increase the target distance from your bird. I started this with my lovebird and eclectus. They started flying to me at 1ft now the lovebird will fly 20-30 ft to my hand.

depending on the size of bird, use some sorts of nuts (even if they take a while to get inside, its well worth it) and if you want it to be a fast treat, shell them and crush them into little bits (about the size of a sunflower seed) and it should be faster, or even smaller if your bird is smaller.
