What is the fundamental problem with Pakistan is lack of common man's participation in political leadership. Politics is totally dominated by feudal elites in Pakistan. As a result military in Pakistan established itself as composite institution.

Brilliant analysis by Dr Ayesha Siddiqa. In Pakistan Manzur Pashteen has the makings of a genuine national leader willing to face down the Army. But because of that he has not been allowed to broaden his political following beyond the Pashtun. The military of Israel is hugely popular with Israeli civilians because of its military record against Arab armies. Sadly the Pakistan Army to put it politely cannot match this record. The only Muslim country's army that enjoyed a similar respect is the Turkish army - and even this respect was compromised by its efforts to constrain civilian supremacy until Erdogan emerged and survived military conspiracies to eliminate him. In addition, the Israeli army has not taken comprehensive control of the Israeli economy. Its influence over Israeli strategy flows from its record of success on the battlefield and not the abuse of its power against its own civilian leadership as has happened in Pakistan. Of course, the whole of Israel including its IDF is a raging cancer implanted in the body politic of the Arab world. Nevertheless, inefficient and greedy militaries may conquer their own civilians but they can never conquer the enemy. The only solution to this challenge lies in organizing and sustaining civilian resistance. Imran Khan today is the only leader attempting to do this.

As a nation and to become a real nation and nation state, we must have to engage parliament, academia, military, judiciary and all civil society how to run this in long term under the Constitution of Pakistan. Efficient parliament Professional military (w/out politics, economy) Independent judiciary Clean bureaucracy All the Check& Balance

To know if a country is successful or not, one needs to read the objective for which it was created. The objective to create Pakistan was to secure the interests of a few thousands (the elite, the zamindaars, the waderas, etc). The objective had nothing to do with the average citizen (unhe islam ka nasha kara do, wo usi mein khush hain 77 saal se). Has the objective been achieved? Yes. Hence, implying Pakistan is a very successful country.
@MaryamKhan-vf3zoКүн бұрын
As if waderas were already not living lavishly in the sub-continent 🙄 the sole purpose of Pakistan was the creation of a state where Muslims can follow their religious practices and laws without any hindrance... It's not achieved yet but it's in the process!
@rehanapotter1042Күн бұрын
“muslims can follow their religious practices” ??? That has not been achieved in 70 plus years. Is that the sole purpose ? What about honesty, decency, truthfulness, tolerance, cleanliness, thoughtfulness and respect for others - none of these traits exist in Pakistan. You see all if these in the Western world where common decency is seen in day to day life everywhere. We still have a 100 years to get there. Munafiqat kab khatam hogi !?

She is ABSOLUTELY right. Bold woman, a thousand salute to you madam. A million salute to the channel for hosting her. The only issue or rather the only pre-requisite for Pakistan’s stable future is to make the Army say ABSOLUTELY NO, to do any non-military job in the Pakistan. This hollow and imaginary concept of Security State, is now Obsolete.

There is a time when things will start reshaping n that turning point has reached for pak army it's obvious that massacre n force failed to subdued people reaction against establishment rather the tyranny has worked as a catalyst to expose the self centered interests n limitations of the estb. It may take time n happens not suddenly. PTI evolution is also building in this direction n IK resolve to stand solid n not compromise is something which is enough for certain powers to feel he mean business.
