Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen members were also found with 225 grams of milled uranium. 1998-2000: Two uranium smuggling incidents in Chennai and nuclear materials were smuggled from hospitals in Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Nettoor. 2004: India enacted the Weapons of Mass Destruction Act in response to UNSC Resolution 1540, aiming to prevent nuclear proliferation. 2016: 9 kg of depleted uranium was seized in Thane. 2018: Police in Kolkata confiscated 1 kg of radioactive material worth USD 440,000. 2021: Four Nepalese were arrested for possessing smuggled uranium; two individuals were apprehended in Nagpur with 7.1 kg of natural uranium. 2022: Eight people were arrested in Nepal for attempting to sell a uranium-like substance smuggled from India. 2024: A gang was caught with a radioactive device in Dehradun, and 50 grams of radioactive californium worth over USD 100 million were seized in Bihar, highlighting security lapses in the nuclear industry. Defence less without nuclear power but against which country? The same feeling was in the Pakistan that we are defenceless without this nuclear power. So Pakistanis had to adopt some ways to be able to make a nuclear deterrence against hostile Indian ambitions towards Pakistan. No one was ready to lend a hand to a Muslim country for this purpose. Therefore Pakistanis were forced and compelled to adopt means to fund its nuclear program, though not legal in the eyes of the world powers. All of these powers were not muslims and they did not want any muslim country to become Nuclear. The only country that has the capability and understanding of the technology, amongst the muslim countries, was only Pakistan. So we did it.
