Your welder story just reminded me of when I bought a welder direct from china. Told a mate and a guy overheard and thought I’d bought a welding chinaman…….

Thanks for showing how to fix things that don’t fall into place. Too many channels make it look perfect and easy. Not helpful when actually trying to learn.

I always question where to know to put the bar on badly worn bores. Sure putting a bar in the center of 2 holes isn’t a problem. But I’m not confident in getting them on the same plane as the 2 in their holes on the other end.

One thing I wish my coworker would learn, tack one side of things and just bend it off. He makes them non removable without cutting and ends up gouging everything he touches. He's a bull in a china shop. 😬

do they sell mig welders in the usa lol. you are not building liberty ships anymore

MiG requires prep. Can’t be doing any of that😂

I have a nice mig welder sitting in the corner of my shop, and 90% of the time it's faster just to grab the old lincoln ac/dc buzz box and get 'er done. If it takes me longer to dig out and set up the mig welder than I'll spend welding, I'm just grabbing the tombstone and a 6011/7018 and getting it done. If I know I'm gonna be doing more than 30 seconds of welding, I'll break out the cobra.

@@ForfeMac Stick has it's place as I have done lots of site work with my Gen Sets but in a working fab/machine shops I go in the Mig rules. I have a lovely DC inverter that I use for small stainless job I do but it is 90% Mig

@@theessexhunter1305 If I'm doing fabrication I absolutely break out the mig, but if I've just got to tack something you can't beat the convenience of grabbing a 6011 or 7018 and just zapping it real quick. No fussing with wire speeds, voltage, gas flow, is my tip clogged, is my liner good, is the wire shit, how much gas do I have, et cetera.
