How Farms Work is a KZbin channel based in rural Potosi, Wisconsin. Our mission is to teach those who didn't grow up on a farm what the farming life is like. Our videos show the Kuster family working together raising cattle and GMO crops. We believe everyone who wants to know more about farming should be able to share the farming experience with us.
How Farms Work takes place on ~1,100 acres with around 75-200 cattle at any given time. Four John Deere tractors are currently used on the farm, which are a 4020, 4640, 7600, and 8235R.
Be sure to subscribe for new videos every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday at 11AM Central!

I really enjoy watching your videos! I remember driving around Wisconsin when I was younger ,just seeing all the farms & loving the country ! I lived in Rockford IL till 1979 & a lot of the area & towns around Rockford were farming communities! Farming is a way of life & I know from my grandparents its not a way of getting rich & its long hours plus hard work. So watching your videos & Travis brings back fond memories of staying 2 weeks each summer on my grandparents farm in Pana IL. Thanks for sharing and take care

Yeah I don't keep flighty cattle either... they're no good-- just work themselves into a frenzy and do stupid stuff, totally unpredictable, and what's worse is the "herd instinct" kicks in and if you have ONE flighty idiot cow or bull then you have five others that see that and think, "wow, they're worked up, I guess I should be too!" and then you REALLY have a mess... Same thing with fence breakers... get out once, I'll run 'em back in and not worry about it too much, but a PERSISTENT fence jumper, or fence pusher, down the road they go... Again, the others see them do it, and pretty soon your ONE fence jumper turns into FIVE fence jumpers... Life is too short and I'm getting too old for that sh!t... Trailer ride replaces that problem with a check, which is better... Later! OL J R :)

Yay, time to make some money! Do you think your operation would be more profitable if you raised all your steers to fat (fed) weight instead of selling them at feeder weight? While revenue is nice, profit is even better. Thank you for sharing the information that you have to the extent you do. The quality of your videos complements the timeliness of The Rest of the Story, so don't ever worry about "keeping up" with your brother for our sake. Wishing you all the best from central Iowa. Great vid! You have some nice looking steers there. Hope they gave you some good returns. A few things though, the yelling at the start of the vid was a little excessive and unnecessary. By no means is it abuse, of course! It's just those steers had quite a large flight zone, they looked easy to move just by walking near them. Also glad that whip didn't touch the steers, they were behaving quite well, even though they were a little jumpy! Lol

Really nice to see how selling cattle is done in your area. Here in South Africa it very similar except that the seller gets his check mostly on the same day. Love how you scared the steer(heifer?) at 2:00. It was hilarious and made my day:). Greetings

I really liked the video because I have the same problem with my cows. I'm trying to keep as many heifers as possible but with the drought in Colorado it is very hard to do so. We were feeding hay into mid May on all of our cows and almost had to buy some. Our first measurable precipitation came May 5th and we are hoping the rain keeps up to replenish our shortage of hay from feed so late this year. As always loved the video.

Hamza Amir thank you for your reply. I would like to say you are one big moron as you just talk about humor I find in harmlessly yelling at a animal who who is dumber than a door knob and calling me a pos. I’d like to then point out you tell me you would find it great to see a human getting trampled to death. I definitely value a human life a lot more than a cows “mental health state” from getting yelled at for a 5 second period that they won’t remember in 30 seconds. Remember for the future, if you want people to find out how dumb you are, open your mouth and remove all doubt.
