You forgot to clean the old paste around the CPU chip. You do that by taking either a cue tip with alcohol, or taking something like a toothpick and going gently around the chip removing the old dry paste. After, you also need to clean both: the CPU and heatsink with rubbing alcohol before applying the fresh thermal paste. VERY IMPORTANT!

I think this is the best video of how to disassemble and clean a laptop HP Pavilion dv6. Others actually don't show you all of the screws that have to be removed. I wish it had audio, but it is still the best.

thanks a lot..i cleaned my dv6 ..ur vid was of great help.. i only messed up while removing the keyborad. broke one bottom hinge..out of 5 hinges. also becas i didnt had thermal paste..i got a really cheap one from nearby computershop..it costed less than a dollar.. will apply artic silver next time... the core temp has dropped 20 degrees...from 78 degrees to 50-55 degrees now... i was also very carefull for placement of screws..i messed up my last compaq laptop becas of screws...lot of plastic broke becas of that. this time i drew on a4 paper where all screw belonged and kept on that paper. took me 8 hours to complete the task...(including dinner and shopping for china made thermal paste, surgical spirit and cotton swabs...) ;)

The word for describing what all we Dv6 Pavilion owners feel when we see this is absolute PAIN. No way it hurts that much. Damn HP.

Same bro, my laptop is making very annoy noise for weeks! and its the fan fault, after seeing this, i dont wanna open it and clean it after all
@sergiovcf163 жыл бұрын
@@Kurdy70 yep bro, it is a pain in the balls, but I opened it because of the same reason as you and everything went good. Just provide yourself with good quality tools, especially a good prying tool. Do it slowly, do not force the parts nor the screws, keep a drawn scheme of where every part goes, put it there and everything will be ok. It is worth doing it, the laptop seems another now!

The most AWFUL AWFUL device I’ve ever taken apart GHerrr. Why? Just to clean the fan. You literally must take the WHOLE AWFUL thing apart. I’ll take a break to cool off before starting again. Wth 🤦♂️

it is necessary to fully disassemble for fan cleaning? or can i just remove one or two covers until i see the fan and blow the dirt with a compressed air?

Thanks for this video. I am really scared to try this on my own. How do I assemble it back after? Is it just the same? And is thermal paste required? Cuz I dont really have one right now because of quarantine.

After seeing this one, I think that the DV6 21XX Series are way harder to teardown than every hp laptop. I don't know why hp make customer hard to do a simple and quick repair at home. At least they should allow the customers to open the back case only for upgrading parts like RAM, Storage and also clean or replacing the fan, cuz that thing are very usual to do in Windows based laptops. When I see macbook teardown video, I saw that apple design the macbook really simple, only to remove the screw then you can access to a whole parts.

1:04 the network adapter screws are a pain the the ass to remove. I got one out by full force, but the second screw seems to be stripped, but I can get a budge in it.
@kallethefox19684 жыл бұрын
that mean it MIGHT not be the correct screw used then?

It’s been a month ago, but I’ve decided to leave it on any my model doesn’t require it to be removed. I had to take out the antennas off though.

Mine was much dirtier, had to go through every slit with a toothpick, and hit it with a jet of alcohol. Just got done 😥. Stoopid hp and their design 😤. Taking a break and then reassembly. The hard part is done 😌
