When I first heard the original theme for Howls moving castle I imagined a dance at the ball with your loved one, with fancy clothes in a magnificent mansion. But this almost feels like dancing with the corpse of your loved one in an abandoned mansion. With only candle lights to illuminate the setting.. also it feels like this song is moving at a faster pace as if your dancing alone.

In the end really hes just selfish and a coward, not heartless, because it's more like him and Calcifer share the heart, not that he lost it. He fell in love with Sophie "without" it anyways, he just played up the rumors and infamy to worsen his reputation. And in the movie the girls he goes through are in search of Sophie. In the book hes more of a player.

For my book nerds: The villain dancing with the villainess at a ball. They’re both playing a mind game with each other while in step. Everybody is looking at them. Suddenly, the villainess mentions something to the villain that makes him panic. The tension rises between them. The dancing gets more hectic as the conversation gets more intense. Eventually, the villainess has the last word, crushing the villain. They bow to each other as the song ends. He stares at her as she walks away from him. He realizes, she is a threat and that he is in love. PS, howl’s moving castle is my comfort movie. I love this cover so much. Thank you for it!!

the most interesting thing is that the original score actually has quite a bit of a bittersweet and nostalgic feeling to it yet somehow still merry at the same time, almost like two sides to a coin, but balancing right on the edge of it not flipping to either side. this dark version is like if someone intervened and gave the coin a little push, making it fall face-up on the bittersweet side without the sweet.

What howl plays at Sophie’s funeral, realizing the aging spell also cuts her life short
@moomoomedows50263 жыл бұрын
(Spoilers if haven’t watched movie) So pretty much the spell was actually broken. I’m the beginning of the movie when Sophie meets Calcifier if you remember if you watched the movie, Sophie and Calcifier make a deal: if Sophie breaks Calcifier a curse to turn free him from his fire form/ contract he would break Sophie’s spell that made her older. So if you have watched the movie then you know that Calcifier is Howls heart but Howl made a contract with the kingdom which led to them stealing Howls heart not necessarily stealing but leaving his heart from his body so that’s why you see Calcifier (his heart) in a fire form where he can’t do anything but to move or power Howls moving castle that’s why in the movie when Sophie took Calcifier out of the house the Castle fell apart. But if you remember well enough in the movie Sophie gets Calcifier and puts it into Howl eventually Howl restores his energy’s and breaks the curse of contract meaning that Calcifier would now brake Sophie spell which he did at the end of the movie that’s why she turned young again and they lived Happily Ever after :)

You can imagine all the deep intense thoughts/feelings you want with this song, but probably the most canon is: It's a dark room, lit only by a few red-flamed candles. Creepy things dangle from the ceiling, and there's silver chains. Howl is writhing about the room, emitting the most heart-wrenching sounds ever to come from man or beast. Blood stains his loose ruffled shirt on the left side, right by his heart which he is gripping with a equally blood-soaked hand. An organ plays itself in a melody that could only have come from Hell. All is despair. Then a beam of light pierced the abyss of death. Who is the radiant figure that stands within the center of the blinding light? Howl raised his ashen hand to shield his blood-red eyes- "HOWL, WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING!!!!!! I leave for FIVE MINUTES TO GET VEGETABLES FOR DINNER AND THIS IS WHAT YOU DO????? CLEAN THIS MESS UP RIGHT NOW AND COME SET THE TABLE!!!!" "....Yes, Sophie." Howl waves a hand and the room returns to its usual cheery state, and the raspberry-flavored "blood" on his shirt disappears instantly. He sulks off the the bathroom to pout for 10 minutes until Sophie yells at him to get out of there and help her.

They’re dancing about the room, dark clothes and a melancholy feeling creeping up their spine. The music continues and they still dance, almost like a puppeteer doing it’s magic. And soon they’re both spinning about each other and holding hands, arm strewn around his neck and hands around her waist. Feet stepping to the beat and not a single misstep. The music swaying them, like an enchanting sound that has never been heard before. Eyes looking at each other deeply as the music swifts them into a dip and soon...the music stops.....and it was almost like he was never there. Only the smell of him remained, along with the sound of rain, looking to the left, you realize that the whole wall that was once there is gone now, it is wide open, the rain and thunder making an appearance. Looking about the room, it’s cold, chilly, ‘How did I even get here?’ And then you saw a painting on one of the walls, it was the same boy who spun you around the room.....along with two older figures who appeared to be his parents. ‘But I was just with him’.......
