Agreed. For the small number of notes, it's, for lack of a better term, all over the place. I discovered this song when I was maybe 12 and listened to it regularly for the past 14 years since, and only recently did I attempt to learn it and it's incredibly difficult to get it down properly. you said it perfectly, when you think you know where it's going to go, it goes somewhere else. insanely good performance from all of them. certainly my number one favorite howlin wolf track

Ari'ze Woman He sure is! And playing about as nasty a riff as you'll ever find played. The amazing thing to me is when you put into context what music was before the blues greats. They basically showed the world what music is supposed to look like, sound, and feel like. Nothing ever came close before it, and nothing has come close since.

It sounds like he slowed down, and slightly rearanged the music from his song smokestack lightning, and then added new lyrics. Although it sounds simillar to smokestack lightning it encapsulates the social injustice to african americans during that time.He's Howlin Wolf he does as he please.

I do not know about Lonnie Johnson, but "Chester" was related by marriage to Robert Johnson . Red Rooster sounds alot like "Milk Cow". Though these guys borrowed liberally from one another. The Wolf was a class act.
