HowTo: Clean melted plastic off chrome pipes

My rain gear has melted onto my nice chrome exhaust pipes yet again. Here’s a quick and easy way to remove it

Same just happened to me today! My cover melted on my exhaust and flew off on the highway :( Had to buy a new one, but steel wool works great!

Thanks for sharing in 4k! I've seen other videos where they cleaned the chrome but you could tell they scratched it as a well - think I'll try some 000 where my daughter melted her shoe.

I had heard...to use a lady's razor (with the lubricating strip thing...has anyone else heard of that?) and shave it off... I'm soooooo glad I checked out other options....THANKS a BUNCH!!!

I just had this problem last weekend with a yellow microfiber cloth that melted on the exhaust. It’s an “O Shit” moment! After scrubbing an hour with soapy water and abrasive cloth, stainless steel cleaner, magic eraser and finally rubbing compound with little effect I search this topic on you tube. I found the nickel trick but after watching your video it’s good know steel wool will work a little faster with same results.

Good solution if this doesnt work i took a grinder and put a polishing disc on it with soap and water or polishing liquid and i got it all off it will take some time but it wont scratch it since the polish disc is very soft!

It’s called an SOS Pad. Usually used in the kitchen to clean pans.

This method scratched the crap out of my bussina pro street turn out chrome and only took off the thick plastic. Most of the yellowing from the long ride burn and the millions of scratches becuase of the S.O.S pad. I should of used 0000 not a S.O.S pad be Warned.

Actually, it’s the bassani that’s the problem there. They use crap chrome. Rusts really easily too.
