Could this be used inbetween the solar panel and mppt charger👍👍
@TheDIYDen Жыл бұрын
yeah, for sure it could help mppt that require higher voltage to operate

Can I use it to step down the voltage from the solar to the battery?
@TheDIYDenАй бұрын
No, this is boost converter only. To step down you need a buck converter.
@Dc_tech3862 жыл бұрын
You need the buck converter to max the panel out that how mppt work the booster won’t won’t give you all the panel wattage but the buck does so get a buck converter and connected in parallel with the booster

cool i was looking for some info like this, i have an ebike battery, lithium 48v 10ah, the problem with this is that i need a vmp greater than 55v of solar, but the battery charges at 100w tops, so its an overkill making series arrays to reach the voltaje, i was wondering, can i use lets say a 100w 12-18v solar panel with this module to boost it up to 55v for charge?, would be better to connect the panel to a mppt first then to the booster? thanks for your time!
@TheDIYDen3 ай бұрын
Should work either way, perhaps the power output would be better with the mppt

Can I run 1.5 kva inverter on this device . For operating required voltage is 150vdc ....... But I have 80 volts on solar panel
@TheDIYDen Жыл бұрын
no these booster can only step up to 90vdc i believe

Do these last? I had one. I used it to convert 24v to 36v at 10 amps. It burned out the first time.
@TheDIYDen Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I had some units for years, you probably just got unlucky

Depends on the load also, inductive loads like electric motors, they take 7x the power at startup to charge up the coils. that maybe have been the issue
@Hinapulan Жыл бұрын
@@TheDIYDenWould a parallel high capacitance help lower the inductance load.

You mentioned this setup is not for lead acid batteries. Why?
@TheDIYDen Жыл бұрын
Lead acid have a different charging profile, they take less power towards the end of the charge, to top them off.
@Hinapulan Жыл бұрын
@@TheDIYDen Thank you. You must be referring to the absorption or topping stage after bulk charge for lead acid which LiPO4s do not go through.
@TheDIYDen Жыл бұрын
@@Hinapulan Right, so in theory these could still work with lead acid but you'd be ahead not topping off the battery, or charge with no more then the recommended bulk charge rate, otherwise it would shorten the life of the battery

Hi can these step ups ruin the lithium cells or decrease the life of the battery pack or is all this false? I know that by increasing the voltage the battery discharges earlier this seems obvious but I don't know if it decreases the total life of the battery you know lithium batteries have about 1000 cycles which should last 2/3 years but with the step up I don't know if it will die to earlier ? thanks vrey much
@TheDIYDen Жыл бұрын
Hi, it really depends on your batteries, my lithium batteries are 36v, and they can be charged at 42v, so i have to step up from the 30v that the solar panel can produce
@PyroAnonymous9 ай бұрын
As long as you set it up with the correct parameters, you're good to go. I use this boost converter to step up 18v from a panel to 54.6v to charge a 48v battery

@Whale_Lover Well, 54.6v is the max voltage of a fully charged 48v pack
