I'm going to guess that the resolution in photoshop is inferior when you save. CAD files are also vector files so they have no scale. Once in photoshop and finally saved the image is scaled relative to 'size' (pixels & document settings).

ssive, as simeoneous said, every office does things a bit differently. I don't get involved in presentation drawings very often, but for CDs I use 2 different hatch (poche) patterns on all new construction. One pattern for masonry & another for frame. On additions & remodels, I use a third for existing frame walls & also show demolished walls as a light dashed line. A schedule shows everyone what the patterns are for. Wall thickness & other particulars get called out by keyed notes.

@ssivve Not always, if they are drawn in a thick enough line weight they can be easily read as solid walls if left with no fill. Different architecture practices have different in-house styles. Also, it can depend on the scale of the drawing, or the information you wish to convey.

CAD - a Macintosh SE - priceless! I am producing floor plans for a school but I am cheating by not using AutoCAD or ArchiCAD. It take slonger but the accuracy does not have to be as exact as a professional architect plan. BTW, I'm not an architect, just an architect wannabe... TeeHee! I love the pointers and tips you give. It makes clear what I am doing, even though I never understood it until now. Kudos!

Greetings of Peace. Great body of work, sir. Would like to ask a question about lineweights conversion into pixels exterior walls, interior walls, and furniture...and any other lineweights that I might benefit from knowing. I am working with Photoshop and professional animation software, however, not utilizing any Architectural programs. It is close to drafting by hand compared to CAD or SketchUp. So far I have switched between lineweights of 2 px and 5 px on a 36'x24' canvas

@bokee21 Hey Bokee! Being good at drawing is a bonus, especially when ur majoring in interior design, or any design field. & keep in mind the new drawing softwares that boost any doodle you draw on -for example- a media template. From my experience, it doesn't make a difference wither you know how to draw or not, as long as you practice!!! Your hand will get used to drawing professionally. Tip: Sketch out ur ideas as much as you can, also use good drawing tools. It's ALL about practice!

NO ONE USES PLASTER ANYMORE! Honestly I can see from your plans that you do not have an active knowledge of the construction process. Drywall with sheetrock mud on top. It is lighter, more cost effective and significantly easier to repair. I have been in construction for 20 years and in all that time, I have only ever ripped out and replaced plaster. I am now in school to learn how to draw my own plans because architects routinely do not understand the construction process, material cost or the reality of what they have drawn. We would never install a stone floor. Masons are insanely expensive and the prep work would need to begin before you even pour the foundation. I do not see a foundation noting the 6 in drop in foundation to accommodate the drawing. It is a similar drop to creating a zero entry shower. I wish my instructor had a better understanding of the modern work force so we did not get such antiquated videos.
