The valve cover gasket kit on this video is for Escape 3.0 v6 built after 01/19/2006. The engines built up to 01/18/2006 have different kit; the kit is FEL-PRO Valve Cover Gasket VS50579R. BTW, excellent video on how-to.

Thank you! Also, re-torque all the cam cap bolts while you are in there. They can come loose towards CYL 3 and 6, break, and eject the lash adjusters into the cover.

@@HowtoAutomotive Desperation advice here!!!!!!!!!!!!! I could not get at that bracket bolt to remove the front valve cover to save my life after trying for two hours. A DYI who needed to finish the valve gasket job that weekend, I finally just took out the Sawzall and cut the daxxxx thing. where it was blocking the removal. I assume it is there just for an engine removal should it be necessary? I'll cross that bridge......

Thank you for making this video, I just replaced our valve gasket on our 2007 escape. After buttoning everything up I got rough idle and p2195 and p2197 on the obd. I’ve checked the vacuum lines to be sure they are on securely. Im wondering if I have a vacuum leak or bad o2 sensors.

Thank you much for the great reference video. It sure has a lot of connections and parts/pieces. I hope I could remember all of the connections to be unhooked/hooked back. I had heard on another channel that the 3.0L V6 in the Escape can have a problem with the camshaft caps. In particular the bolts holding the caps on would become loose. Would it had been a good idea to get new bolts and torque those bolts if this is a model year with that type of problem? If the bolts get too loose a catastrophic fail will require a new engine. Very expensive.

very descriptive thanks i just did the tuneup this past weekend never done one before on this car but still only took me an hour and 40 minutes i should have done the valve cover gaskets when i had it apart due to the oil settled in the spark plug holes in the valve cover but no worries after watching this i think ill be fine lol thanks !!!

The fatal flaw on these engines are the camshaft retaining bolts. They can come loose after about 140,000 miles and cause misfires. That is your first clue. Buy New updated bolts from Ford and replace and torque to spec. FordTechMakaluco has a video on this.

I used the video to change the cover gaskets on my 2007. video contains all the necessary info except for 1 detail-the torque sequence drawing that is shown for the rear cover is wrong. The drawing only shows 10 bolts, the actual cover has 13. In the gasket kit, there are 26 bolt grommets...13 for each cover

You are supposed to but I have pulled my intake off several times without replacing them and had no issues

If you are doing all of that, I would pull the cam shaft pulley (water pump drive) and replace the cam seal and "gasket RR housing" on that support plate. thanks to YT Joshua Lymer

2012 Escape v6 3.0 Duratec is a bit different and I'd imagine 2008-2012 gen2 or at least 2010-2012 are not the same as 2007

Pull vehicle in shop, realize you have to take apart half of the top part of engine and accessories! Pull vehicle back out and list for sale! Wow! That's just ridiculous all that work for one rear valve cover gasket! FU Ford!

I think this is typical for any transverse mounted V6 in a front-wheel drive configuration. It's a huge engine for that small space.
