A +1 weapon increases chance to hit, damage expectancy, and bypasses various resistances. It is limited by a characters number of attacks though. A +1 to AC/saving throws keeps its scaling and is effective no mater how many enemies there are. I’m often surprised at how the weapons are usually valued over the AC/saving throw bonuses.

My Dwarf Thief player used the boots of striding jumping bonus to jump across the chasm in WEC for advantage on the dark elf watching the bugbear excavation.

running this campaign now with friends. My friend has tourette syndrome so I added the magic item "cursed ring of curses". ring that spontaneously makes you yell curse words... haven't given it to him yet but I'm excited lol

Just a question to confirm, as I was looking over the magic items again, the staff of defense would only be able to be used by a Sorc or wizard (if you wanted to use shield/Mage armor) because they are the only classes with those spells. Other classes would benefit from the AC bonus but wouldn't be able to cast those spells because the description specifically states they have to be on your class's spell list? Thoughts? Regardless, great stuff and I really enjoyed your LMoP series its definitely one of the best on youtube for LMoP!

How would Boots of Striding and springing apply to a bullywug....They normally can do a standing long jump of 20 feet, and high jump of 10 feet

Rules as written not much. They have a land speed of 20ft so that would increase to 30ft. Their jump would increase to 60ft except your jump distance is capped by your movement speed so they would be able to jump 30ft per round. You need something with a hight movement speed to get the most out of them.

I feel magic items in general are kind of weird. Pretty much regardless of what the magic item is I have to use more difficult monsters to keep it challenging.

You are seriously underestimating the Boots of Striding and Springing. Give that to a halfling rogue, get sneak attack every round. No player has had you suddenly realizing they jammed that Mario cartridge into the map? I would

@@HowtoRPG :) That extra 5 feet of movement can be a big deal. Rogues can Dash as a bonus action, meaning they can move 3 times on their turn. The boots make that 90 ft. instead of 75. For fun, halflings can move thru almost any creature space, including enemies. If that rogue doesn't get sneak attack every round, they're not paying attention. Also, high strength can mean crazy jumps that take up that char's whole movement allowance. That means big verticle jumps, like limited flight.

way better to give them to someone very strong or combine them with the ogre strength gauntlets, now your melee guy can literally jump over the front lines and get to the big bad guy. 5' of movement is nothing compared to that. The hafling can take the mobility feat if he really wants. The melee guy cant take a feat to jump 3X. Your rogue also has cunning action, he already can move all over the place with ease.

We need to look at Old school D&D for guidance on things like magic armour and rings. Magical Jewellery shouldnt stack with magic armour.
