Sly Flourish suggested giving the party an amulet of aid that blesses the party with the aid spell for 8 hours, giving them 5 more temporary hit points to help them survive until level 2...you could say that their patron Gundren Rockseeker gave them the amulet for emergencies...then the amulet disappears after a single use, or loses its magical quality
@HowtoRPG3 жыл бұрын
Yes or just make a amulet a custom homebrew magic item.
@quonomonna81263 жыл бұрын
@@HowtoRPG I thought it already was customized, I had to look it up. In 2nd edition the aid spell was way different - lasted nowhere near as long and only affected one person!

Funnily enough, the hardest encounter in Wave Echo Cave for our party was the bloodsucking bats. So many of the little bastards rolled high and grappled us. :D

This is a VERY appreciated video. Glad that I found it and the channel as a whole.

Thanks for making this, my party is quite quick and strategic so I was worried they were about to hit a wall.

They will be fine.

A tactically adept group can do more with less than a bunch of uncoordinated munchkins who are all trying to take center stage. So the skill of the players in running heir PCs will make a huge difference in what level is required to accomplish anything.

Yes, but usually it's played by new people.

... yeah... my 3 kids and their two friends... all 13 or less managed to not only survive.. but outwit the goblins. I really have no sympathy for adults who cant survive these encounters. Lol

Hi! I have run Stormwreck isle and got the players up to level 3. My players want to continue another adventure with their same characters, so I had the idea of getting Runara (main character in Stormwreck) be a friend of Gungren and ask them to go an seek him out in Phandalin! The aim is to complete Lost mine of Pahndelver and then go into Icespire peak with the same characters as these two are both located in Phandalin! Since they are 4 level 3 players, do you have any suggestions to modify the encounters to increase difficulty and keep it interesting? They enjoy risk of death although they are not particularly smart and tactical in their fights.

I would leave Lost Mine of Phandelver alone, as it's most finished with level 3 characters. Try looking for "Isle of Dread", it is another island adventure but starts at level 3. Otherwise I would move over to Dragon of Icespire peak and ditch the quests that are for level 1 to 3. I do teach people how to make their own adventures. All the best.

Excellent.

Our DM swapped the spectator for an actual Beholder (with 300HP) back when I first played this. Our entire party was wiped and we continued with new characters.. Now I started to DM LMoP myself and gotta consider what I change to which encounters myself^^

lol. Be nice.

Good lord, man. They are Level 5 at best! A blind Beholder would be devastating

A beholder would not guard the mine. A spectator would.

I was just about to start this adventure with 4 people new to D&D, because, well, because, it said it's SPECIFICALLY suppose to be for new players. And I have to say, I want to pull the nose hairs out of the guy who wrote it, all the hairs, really slowly, because this mess is for very experienced players only. The Goblin Arrows scenario alone will slaughter new players, let alone throws rules and tactics at them they should not have to deal with in the first place. If I had run this, as written, my friends would have never played again after their first night.
@HowtoRPG5 жыл бұрын
Don't run the first adventure as written. It's better than some adventures put out by Wizards.

I have a Druid and Fighter, as well as DMPC Barbarian and a Bard, I’m leaning towards level 5 after Cragmaw Castle - do you think that’s too high going into WEC? Maybe level up in the middle of it?
@brandonduer29714 жыл бұрын
I'm running this after Dragon of icespire peak, so I'm going to increase the challenge level . I hope to do so mostly by being more tactful and not pulling punches. I've changed a bit of icespire peak already so I want to lean into the dragon cult, and make challenging spell caster enemies. Any other tips would be greatly helpful
@HowtoRPG4 жыл бұрын
Most of Dragon of Icespire Peak is already hard enough. Change out the default spells for the mage.

How would you recommend a structure this? I am DMing this for two players and I have my bard in the party as sort of an NPC to help them out. Their level 3 about to finish redbrand hide out and are most likely going to be heading to thunder tree after this, should I try to divert them to a different path until they’re higher level? Or maybe level them to 4 after red brand?
@ccgod4 жыл бұрын
Well only doing it with 2 players and an npc i could see you having to either be generous with magic items or make encounters weaker. Technically they should be level 2 in the hideout and gain level 3 after. Remember they're not suppose to kill the green dragon but hurt it into running away. You could always just lower its hp and ac and only not roll for it to regain its breathe weapon.

That stupid flaming skull TPK'd the party when I played this. Was very annoying.
