Can we start a round the campfire story hour with Steve, like once a month? We can parachute in where ever you are, I'll build the fire if you'll stand or sit and tell stories!! You are the Dad, Grandpa or Uncle that the young people gravitate to because you tell the best stories. Every family should have at least one. Family, blood or not, around a campfire passing down history and knowledge, reasons for why and why not. It's truly a shame it is on the endangered list. You live in Heaven young man!! Thank you for sharing yourself with us all.

Steve you want to hunt deer come to Appleton Wisconsin and the surrounding area we are overpopulated with deer, turkeys, ducks, and geese. The funny thing is I can show you fields full of these animals all hanging out together. Is that crazy or what! Just yesterday I was taking my daughter to work and saw a field of ducks, and geese that had a herd of around 40+ deer or more. Mixed with the ducks, geese, and deer was at least 20+ turkeys. I moved here from Arkansas almost 2 years ago and I've never seen the likes of this before. Oh, when I say I saw a field of ducks, and geese, I talking about a field the size of a 100+ acres with hundreds of wild ducks and geese.

This reminds me of the last time I went bear hunting. It was a crisp clear morning, perfect for hunting. Unfortunately, as I was exiting the tent I slipped in a puddle of frozen urine and fell on the frost hardened ground and an unseen tree root, injuring my lumbar spine. This was going to be quite the hunt then. It was the first time I would be hunting totally alone and unarmed. I lay there for some time going over the hunt in my head. Once I had recovered sufficiently I slipped into a pair of well worn steel toed boots I had left over from a construction project I had been working on in Montreal. These would later prove essential to my survival. Late that afternoon, with the sun slanting hard from the west I encountered a large boar black bear resting in a quiet forest clearing, beside a raspberry patch in the late afternoon sunlight. At first he did not notice I was there, so I quickly moved into range and delivered a well aimed kick between his hind legs, instantly severing his urethra. This seemed to cause him a great deal of pain, and he was instantly aware of his surroundings, but with the amount of blood he was pissing I could already see that he was fading fast. Just to be sure I grabbed my shortened down road hockey stick which I have been trained to carry since I was a wee lad and began striking him vigorously on the neck in an attempt to shock the spinal cord and paralyze him so I could finish him off at my leisure. It took me about another 15 minutes to beat him senseless. What a mess. I sprinted around the clearing in a victory lap screeching at the top of my lungs. Neither myself nor the bear had taken any meth that day.

Kidding aside, as a life long hunter whose feet have been solidly planted in Northern Virginia (as regards hunting, anyway), I sure do appreciate these stories and videos. Can't imagine I'd have handled that asshat as well as you did.....well done. And while I can't wrap my head around being dependent on drugs, it's obvious this character had mental & emotional issues before he started lubing them with drugs.... I grew up in Huntington Beach California and by the time I left that kind of person your talking about was almost an every day occurance - supercool guys and bimbettes everywhere. Let alone before the wife and I could leave - 3 times we had our parked vehicles ran into(one the guy totaled my truck with a heroin needle in his arm) - another was a girl texting, and the last was a teenage girl drunk driving 50mph in a residential area.... then just as we were leaving a washed up drug addict ex-MMA fighter from hawaii began living with a neighbor - the guy was nuts to say the least but he thought he was something special. It's sad that there are more and more people without a moral compass yet this modern society seems to pat itself on the back more than it deserves in my opinion.
