In harsher environment, shelter is your first concern. Then you go for the water and only after that you look for food. Because, you can go weeks without eating, days without drinking, but only hours exposed to the elements in the night.

One thing a lot of people don’t know is if you have coconut shells 🥥 cleaned out, vague bowl 🥣 shaped, you can boil water in these without the shells burning in the fire 🔥. So long as there’s ample liquid in the shells, these can be used again and again. You could even use them for soups etc., subject to stirring the contents. Ideally if you find yourself on a deserted island 🏝 a Swiss army pocketknife with multiple attachments would be handy.

Bugs CAN be a good food source, but look for drab bugs, not brightly-colored bugs like the one at 1:54. Brightly-colored bugs tend to be poisonous. Some red berries and most yellow and white berries are poisonous, too. And definitely bone up on your mycology before you forage for mushrooms!
