The video is fine, I attached to my helmet and had a great ride last Sunday. Today I was taking pictures and I noticed it is grainy. I've tried indoors and outdoors with the highest settings. Really useful video which has explained a lot. I'm new to osmo action 5 after 18 years of GoPro. Why don't they offer the low profile magnetic mount separately and why no spares like the cage or doors? Final question is I'm guessing there is no dedicated LED to tell you when you're recording and it relies on the screen display?

There is no pause recording, but it's very easy to stop recording and start a new video. You can just bring them back into the editing timeline to put clips together.

Yes, that is correct. If you don't have a phone, you could activate it on a friend's phone. From there on, you wouldn't ever have to pair it to a phone again.

It's sketchy that they require the app to get the action cams to work. When you receive the device it only allows you to use it five times and then you need to use the app which is not available on the Play store, allowing unknown apps then sign a long doc which boils down to DJI basically decides everything about the device. If I would have known this was required I'd think twice about purchase

The UI on the Action 5 Pro is very much like the UI on the Osmo Pocket 3. Can you manually set the shutter speed on the Action Pro 5? I like to do that on the Pocket 3, to get "natural" motion blur.

Is it really safe to use it in salt water without underwater case? I'm buying it especially for snorkeling in Red sea, it would be nice to get full explaining video about using it underwater because i did not find any video in youtube about it. :)

I used mine in saltwater for a month and it worked perfectly. Just be sure to rinse it with fresh water afterwards. Just prevents any salt etc. I do have the case now, but that was just more for protection and to film when I don’t want wind noise.

Hello there, I am planning to buy the DJI Action 5 Pro, but the only thing holding me back is the DJI Mimo app. I have heard that it doesn't support Android and is not available on the Play Store. You need to sideload it and have only 5 attempts after installing. If I fail to register the camera, then both my money and the camera are as good as gone. Please let me know if there is something I can do, or if I should go with the Osmo Action 4 instead.

Yes, it's true that the DJI Mimo App is not on the Play Store. It will work on Android devices, but you have to download the app from DJI's website. You should not have a problem activating the camera through the app though once you download it. That being said, both the Action 4 and Action 5 Pro require activation through the app, so I would go with the Action 5. DJI offers a 14-day return policy, and Amazon has a return policy too, so if for some strange reason, you can not activate the camera (which I'm sure you will be able to), you could return it. Hope that helps!

@JordanHetrick Great actual usage guide. How about voice commands? I plan to attach the camera to my bike and shoot photos or record video without stopping. Changing the mode between photo and video seems to be silly design choice. My 10 years old camera (not an action camera) can take photos while still recording. Can I just turn on the camera and then use voice commands to switch these modes? For example I would like to say "take photo" or "start recording" then "stop recording"rather than to swipe through menu to change mode, then press the shutter ... my subject is already gone and it's too late. Not to mention I don't want to operate anything with my hands with exception to handlebar and brakes.

When I export video clips in the Mimo app to my phone drive to edit in CapCut it has the DJI osmosis wording in the bottom left of it. A bit annoying is there anyway to disable this?

@@RobCharles In Mimo apps, click on gallery > Choose the video you want to download > Edit the video (trim, exposure etc) > Then you can see the Export button on top right conner. On left side of Export button you can choose the resolution (4K, 1080p or 720p) also you can choose to put DJI watermark or not.

Hey @JordanHetrick, while setting up my OA5 for the first time, I guess I missed installing the 600MB firmware update and accidentally closed the MIMO app. On re-opening the app later I was again prompted to install another firmware update of about 101 MB (I correctly downloaded and installed it on the camera), but I didn't see any prompt for the 600MB one. Did I mess up something? Was the previous one (600MB one) installed correctly? Do I need to do something to fix this or will the camera handle it on its own? In the settings my Firmware Version shows: 01.00.07.30 and Camera Firmware Version shows: 10.00.06.21. Is this correct or will I face any issues. Thanks!

There is a little black pull tab. You should be able to grab that and pull the battery out. Unless you put it in backwards by accident. In that case, it's hard to get a grip on it to remove it. Hopefully you see that pull tab there👍
