Hoyt Dorado Unboxing

Ive been asked a lot recently to do a video on the Hoyt Dorado, so I thought i'd kick things off by doing an unboxing video. I wont go in to to much detail, but we can have a good look at what you get in the box... Full review coming soon. Opening a new bow box is like opening a new jar of coffee, it should be savoured, Please enjoy.

those string leeches, you can make them yourself from an old outer mountainbike tire ;) a lot cheaper! nice bow, really like the matte black finish

After shooting my Oneida's 20 years i try out traditional archery. But i have 33" drow lenght and i didn't find any trad bows from Merlin's that fit me. 50# on 29" and could do at least 33" drow without stacing.

Did you ever do a review of this same bow (the black riser with black limbs)? Or did you only review a black/maple Dorado? I'm leaning towards picking up the Dorado with black and black but there's absolutely no videos so I can see how it looks as a whole.

Got a question for you Jim, I've been following your videos since before Merlin up until now. I got into traditional archery from compound and I feel I've been doing rather well. Got my hands on a PSE heritage series mustang TD in 55 lb at 28 inches and I've been getting pretty good. I can probably shoot out to 25 meters following your direction on learning instinctive shooting. My question is I knew part of the appeal in a takedown bow is being able to replace limbs but I can't find them for this bow. Any idea what limbs would fit or how to obtain some?

For what reason on this earth is it illegal to hunt with a bow in the UK?! I know its next to impossible to hunt with a gun because of the laws. But a bow?!

I had no Idea that you couldn't hunt with a bow in the UK, its such a huge thing here in the States. Why? or is it some non-logical political reason?

Yes, it has been banned in the UK since the 1960's. Hunting is far more strictly controlled here and has become culturally less acceptable (although culture is always manipulated by politics). As you know it takes far more skill to make a clean kill with a bow than with a firearm so bow hunting is out. Hunting with dogs went the same way a few years back. Other countries in Europe like Ireland and Germany also ban bow hunting but France and Spain don't.

If the UK ban on bow hunting dates back to the 1960's, it sounds like you need to lobby your politicians more. Bow technology has come a long way since then. While using a firearm is still considerably easier, it's not that difficult to get a humane kill with a modern compound bow. It's always hard to overturn a law once it is in place though.

Graham Whitehead There are too few archers here interested in hunting to create a lobby of any consequence. There was a far larger countryside lobby that tried to prevent the ban on fox hunting in 2005 that was unsuccessful. However the same people/politicians who have been eradicating traditional native British country pursuits are quite happy to allow barbaric methods of animal slaughter for certain religious purposes.
