For the first time I'm afraid that I have to strongly disagree with you Grizzly! When advising the person who wanted to get into archery as a business you said you were just lucky. I'm sorry but you're wrong. You shared your passion with us on your Archery Adventures channel. You were educational and funny at the same time and extremely entertaining and what's more got me into traditional archery. So it was not luck that Merlin had the good sense to employ you. I love your videos, keep up the good work.

jim thanks for the great review on w&w black. I bought the newer version the black wolf and it is everything you said and more. I had just bought my son the Hoyt dorado and was impressed with it but I stuck to my guns and ordered the black wolf such a beautiful bow.

Hi Jim, thanks for a really excellent video, the question time format was really good, even I struggled with those tumbler names so 👍 to you.

Hey Jim! Personally I started off with a recurve. I got my first bow (I'm shooting right now) after a little more than a year, a trad recurve bow. Now I feel more appealed to target recurve shooting. I think it's a good idea to start if a generic recurve bow. You'll have lots of time thinking of what you want to do, plus you learn general archery technique

Hi Jim, Thanks for all the great info. I also wanted to respond to the young man that is interested in getting into the archery business. I didnt quite catch his name,so maybe you can pass this on to him. Go for it ! A few years ago I had an opportunity to attend a NFAA / USA Archery level one certification class. It just fell into my lap through Scouting. I was my son's Scout Leader at the time and they needed some to run archery at summer camp. Best decision I made in my life. Opportunity upon opportunity have come my way ever since. We also home school, and I was approached to run a class for the local home school community. It has just been growing leaps and bounds since then. I stepped up to a level two certification last year and I'm now able to teach the level one course. With this, I can help others become instructors, thus doing my part to help further archery. Starting this fall, I will be running two classes a day, 16 kids per class, four days a week through the end of the year. I'm not trying to brag here, just trying to get the point across that if you want something, go get it. The added bonus, is that if you love what you do, you'll never "work" a day in your life. Thanks again Jim, for all you do for the world of traditional archery. Keep sending them down range,...Eric Finch Alpine Traditional Archery on Facebook

Good stuff -- thanks! I'm dying to go flight shooting somewhere but I'm gonna have to find someone that will let me use their land first ugh. Also I would really recommend a cheap take-down recurve as a starter bow as longbows and flatbows etc tend to be more expensive and you don't want to spend all that money only to figure out that you really don't like archery as much or something. And start light with the poundage -- you can always get heavier limbs.

i agree with the 3d targets producing more focus. i can hit a football from 20m away now after starting a few months ago but i cant get the focus to hit the gold on a target boss from the same distance or less!

For choosing a starter bow I've noticed some flatbows are great value for money *cough* blackhawk *cough*. There's a lot to consider though for example competing. I went with longbow because wanted to do a traditional bowstyle but still be able to compete in a category for my university.

Hi Jim, What bow do you recommend if you are left eye dominant and right hand dominant? Would you go for a left or right Hand bow? Thanks

One question though, what if I tune my arrows for an unsilenced bow and I get them perfect, but then I want to put some string silencers on, it should slow down the string and the arrows wouldn't be longer fitting for that bow? Or there shouldn't be much difference?

If Samuel and you are referring to that Timbercreek Cottonmouth, I'll just ask if you have the review done and posted yet. Have you? How about now? :)

I want to buy my second bow between £100-£350 that is traditional with a shelf or arrow rest that isn't a recurve or longbow... I want something that is a good size like a flat bow but looks like a horse bow... I like the look of the Scythian horse bow but I don't want to shoot off the hand... Any advice would be great thanks
