I'd say it has a lot to do as well with his complexion. He's really tall, so his thoracic space is bigger, he's got bigger head too and his face shape (elongated, strong jaw, big mouth in general and probably a lot of room for sound to expand) helps him resonate hugely without much effort. I've seen him sing incredibly loud with his mic practically out of the voice projection area, and that's training and diaphragm control but also complexion, my friend :)

🌿lyrics🌿 [Instrumental] [Verse 1] I couldn't utter my love when it counted But I'm singing like a bird about it now And I couldn't whisper when you needed it shouted But I'm singing like a bird about it now [Chorus 1] Words hung above, but never would form Like a cry at the final breath that is drawn Remember me, love when I'm reborn As a shrike to your sharp and glorious thorn [Verse 2] I'd no idea on what ground I was founded All of that goodness is going with you now Then when met you, my virtues uncounted All of my goodness is going with you now [Chorus 2] Dragging along, following your form Hung like the pelt of some prey you had worn Remember me love, when I'm reborn As the shrike to your sharp and glorious thorn [Verse 3] I fled to the city with so much discounted But I'm flying like a bird to you now Back to the hedgerows where bodies are mounted Ah but I'm flying like a bird to you now [Chorus 3] I was housed by your warmth But I was transformed By your grounded and giving And darkening scorn Remember me love, when I'm reborn As the shrike to your sharp and glorious thorn

Living here in Idaho we have beautiful meadows high up in the remote mountains. This song captures the feeling of walking along the crystal clear streams in late May, resurected grasses surrounding the banks blowing in the breeze after Winter released it's hand. The puffy clouds moving swiftly above to the music of the pines and water below... I cannot be more grateful to have a musician like Hozier writing within my lifetime and sharing the beautiful music of his own which has accompanied my greatest memories over these last few years. I hope he continues for years to come, nobody compares.

@@davidradulovic5897 I would be more than happy to, I have grown up here my entire life and I could tell you every special place to go that you could ask for. If you are coming this way I highly recommend visiting in the springtime especially in April in May or even early June. The exact place that my mind thinks of with this particular song is called Stolle Meadows, you can Google some images but I promise out of the few that are there none of them quite do it justice for how they feel in person. That entire country of the Warm Lake area is filled with clear running streams in solitude, may I ask where you are from? If you are from a heavily populated area then this will be a very different world. If you go back on the right roads it can be miles and miles and every direction without seeing anyone at all but that is the beauty of it. Those who you will run into are very likely to be friendly and willing to help if you needed it. If you want to experience solitude at its absolute finest then I recommended the vast lands of the Owyhee Wilderness, that is a place where you literally will be miles and miles away without anyone or any town. Endless canyonlands that intertwine with aroma from sagebrush and juniper forests, the stars here are brighter than ever. I apologize for the long messages but I would be more than happy to list everything I know personally in great detail. I'm very fortunate to be raised where I was and I've spent my entire life adventuring on a regular basis.
@davidradulovic5897

I'm from Serbia (southeastern Europe, next to Croatia). I've spent my youth in the countryside, so I'm not unfamiliar with meadows and beautiful landscapes. Right now I'm living in the capital, so solitude and stretches of forest or canyons ripe for adventuring are very welcome. :) I'm always on a search for places that can compliment this kind of music, or vice versa. What you described sounds like the environment I'd like to spend most of my time in, when I come. Spring is actually the season I was thinking of, not sure about the date. Can I ask, what is the best mode of transportation between the places you mentioned? If I can see correctly at Google Maps, there's a fair bit of distance between them (between Owyhee river and Stolle meadows, to be exact). I made pins for the places you've listed so far, and now I have to see if I'll be able to visit them. If it turns out that I have the resources for more places, I'll come here and ask you for the ones you haven't told me about. Thank you for the heartfelt reply. You really sound like you're in love with where you live, to say the least, and that's very reassuring (and hard to come by). And please, don't apologize. There's too few replies like this circling around youtube these days.

The lyrics are beyond anything, it's very special. Pure poetry. Raglan road comes close, but raglan road was written by an actual poet. Bravo to this man, as an Irishman living abroad, so emotions.

I love that Suzanne Santo from honeyhoney is a part of this tour. Another soulful musician. And I love that even though they had probably rehearsed this a thousand times over, they still look to each other to communicate and get the music just right.

there arent really words to convey the range of emotions that one feels while listening to this live version, it's like a summoning of ancient things that takes the power from your body and carries it elsewhere

I recently learned (from one of his previous videos) what a Shrike is and how the lyrics are inspired. I had no idea before. Highly recommend watching that video if you haven't already. Also, search for shrike in KZbin search to see one in action...its an amazing thing to see. 🐦

This gorgeous piece of music is like a lullaby to my ears... each time I listen, it's like I'm slipping into a beautifully content dream that only lasted a moment, and I really can't get enough. I've had it on repeat for two days... Its helped me more than my anxiety medication ever has. Damn, this man is great.
