When you said what's that in the background I was looking at the video and trying to see what you were looking at then you said oh it's a harmonica, that's when I realized you meant the background of the song.

Hozier has managed to do something all singers, artists, musicians only dream of and that is having and nailing your very own identity and sound that makes all ears say, that`s Hozier. Well done to him for giving us this great music, music that will no doubt go down in the history books as pure quality.

I think that living in England and growing up here has helped me identify all the subtle accents in rap and singing that would otherwise go unnoticed. I can personally hear his Irish accent come through. There are words he says ever so slightly different than English from England or English from Scotland or English from America for example. It's interesting to hear.

It also entirely depends on which songs you've listened of his. He REALLY lets his accent peek through in certain songs! But yeah I agree if you listen closely you can hear his accent in most of his songs in certain words.

really liked your reaction and analysis! :) I can't for the life of me pick a favourite song, but I think a great and often overlooked one is one called Moment's Silence (Common Tongue). It also has this Western feel to it, and to me it has both an anarchistic vibe due to the heavy drums and guitar and a religious vibe due to the choir-like backing vocals which are similar to the backing vocals on Too Sweet (this type of backing vocals occur often throughout his music).
