Compare and contrast this video with the first, third, and final video I have made of my 49 VT engine. I think you will see a huge difference in operation. Great engines by HP, I have had great success on all 4 of my VT 21's they run so quiet & very fuel efficient too.

exact same problem with my Hp 49 exact changed the o ring on the high end needle and the low end , problem solved, stiill working a little on the low idel speed but pretty much solved my problem

May be worth trying to run it without the intake manifold if the carb fits directly to the cylinder. The manifold may cause leak air issues. A hot OS A3 or OS 6 may also increase idling. If an OS "F" with additional seal rings will have enough threads left it can also help. The head valve must have clearance if the engine warms up. You may remove one of the shims. 10% nitro will also increase running qualities as this engine is far away from a sophisticated combustion chamber. A lot of tests to come I guess.

Hi David Not good the the pinion gets pinched when you nip the screws up.... I messaged a fellow after seeing his run very smoothly and he commented that the rotating sleeve only seals efficiently with straight caster fuels. Going to try this on my hp21vt. Regards Kev.

Sounds as if there might be an air leak , noticeable at lower speed ! Try a piece of fuel tubing on high speed needle to get a better seal ! Keep up the good work !

David, i think the piston is worn out. When the engine is cold it have good compression but when is going hot then loses compression and dies at low rpm... I have similar problem with Thunder Tiger gp.42
@dmrcflyr26 жыл бұрын
Did you even watch the look inside video? Did that engine have the look of one that is worn out? More like one that needs more break-in to me.
@savomilutinovic33556 жыл бұрын
David McIntire Yes i watched look inside video... That's just my opinion. Thunder tiger runs about 10 minutes and then at low rpm it goes out
@dmrcflyr26 жыл бұрын
Well it is a ringed piston, so the piston itself cannot be worn out. But based on my experience and the comments on this video, this engine has low run time and needs more time to break-in. That is also based on what the instructions on the MECOA site say as well about a long break in period. Have you ever had one of these engines?
@savomilutinovic33556 жыл бұрын
David McIntire You are probably right... No i never had engine like this because in Serbia we can only buy used and bad engines. Do not get me wrong, I did not mean anything bad. Cheers

There is much more to the story of this engine than I am revealing at this time also. But that will be another video in the future.....

What you will find is as the rotary valve heats up, it will become snug in the bushing. More run time will improve the fit. Hang in there Bro, it will get better. The version with the needle bearing rotary valve is more compliant but more expensive.

Maybe the timing is out a tooth? But when you set it up it did look ok?
@dmrcflyr26 жыл бұрын
I have set/reset the timing several times. Nothing has helped.
@8ackbar6 жыл бұрын
Your timing is perfect, |I watched the video and the rotary valve was positioned text book perfect.

Ok, very cool!

Try 20% nitro which is good for idling . Cheers.

It sounded like he said "it's a piece of shit" at 33 seconds but I hope I'm wrong as here in England "shit" means rubbish, scrap, only worth throwing in the trash can, this can't be so can it?, as I have three of these engines, one being a flat twin.
@dmrcflyr26 жыл бұрын
You heard me correctly, but you also need to LISTEN to the entire sentence and understand the context of what I am saying. If you still don't like it, then too bad.

I am sorry Mr McIntire for my comment it was uncalled for, it's just that I don't understand American terminology sometimes, I've been watching a lot of American video's of late especially on aircraft and engineering and sometimes get confused with your combination of words. I will say however that I have watched your part's 1,2 & 3 of HP21VT and found them very informative and a well combined video's. Once again my apologies.

This engine just low noise, nothing else. May be 8x6 would be better. This engine no power no idle unstable.
@dmrcflyr26 жыл бұрын
A different prop is not going to change how the engine runs. This prop is one of the sizes specified.
@YangGuici6 жыл бұрын
David McIntire yes. I had 3 of this engine. All of them were the same performance.
@dmrcflyr26 жыл бұрын
And what performance was that? Normal or like this one?
@YangGuici6 жыл бұрын
David McIntire like your one, but just a little bit better on idle, maybe 4500rpm, not much better. And very difficult hand start.
@dmrcflyr26 жыл бұрын
Well that is quite unfortunate for me I guess. I have never had an engine that took that long to break-in. Sounds like a crappy design. As I said, my 49VT did not act like this at all. Could be another engine heading for the for sale area then.
