U said the screen is 1366 x 768 but in desc is says it is 1920 x 1080?

I just turned the laptop on and it is 1920x1080. So the specs at the bottom are correct. Thanks for catching that!!!

I have the same laptop but its 1900x1080p and has 4gb ram and 256gb of storage. At this point its 3.5 years old and has some small cracks around the hinge and where you open it

When you select a laptop it is a good idea to check which materials are used where. The higher end laptops (Dell XPS, Lenovo X1 Carbon....) have more durability generally. How you use it also affects the wear and tear. Some people place it on a desk and it doesn't move much, so the hinges don't get used much. The road warriors should be aiming for something durable if they want to keep them a long time.

I also have the same laptop and it is very bad from the point of view of the microphone (I tried all possible ways, I gave my best to the properties of the microphone and it is very silent, I don't even know what to do with it

No problem on ours. You might have a defective mic. Have it serviced.

I highly recommend getting one with 8GB of ram minimum and a NMVe drive. The 1TB they all use are the super sluggish 5400rpm ones. Having worked with 10k and 15k drives (server drives) and then SSDs and then NVMe drives the old mechanical technology just can’t keep up with the amount of data. I understand laptops are in short supply. Best of luck! Let me know how it went.

You'll have to look it up in your local market. Prices fluctuate so much it's crazy at times. Especially with the general lack of CPUs out there.

If I had unlimited money, I would get the new Apple MacBook Air with the M1 processor, but for my very low demands, the device would have been absolutely overkill and so I decided on the HP 255 G7 with a solid spec (Ryzen 5, 8 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD). The biggest problem is the terrible 1080p TN display with very poor contrast and black levels, otherwise this is a fast and solid device. The touchscreen is great, the keyboard is really usable and the ports are plenty. You can even run a 4K monitor at 60 Hz, even if the data sheet says otherwise, the device has HDMI 2.0 and that makes up for the lousy display.

Can I install Windows 7 64Bit on HP 255 G7 laptop?

Well, I would guess that some components might not have drivers and thus you'd end up with some things not working if at all. Try installing Windows 10 and vmware workstation and then installing Windows 7 as a Virutal Machine (VM). That would be a better way to keep Windows 7 alive into the future if you need it for some legacy software or something.

I would call support and see what alternate way to unlock they can come up with. You may have a BIOS lock in place.

I asked a few users and one told me they are getting double that. THe other said it was not great with Netflix specifically but ok with Zoom. So it’s all about how it is being use. It has decent speed but a disappointing battery size, probably due to space and weight requirements. It’s decent overall. The Dell XPS I use in my day to day has a lot less battery than I’d hoped, so I get the frustration.
