It's similar to the other keys. Although sometimes with a space you may have two retainer clips instead of one.

the white bit clips on but the keycap wont stay on. any help? its when i press the top half of the S key it unclips

It could be a small piece of the plastic has broken off. That is often the case when it just won't stay attached.
