HP Blade Enclosure c7000 cooling fan

I always liked those c7000 Blade Enclosure cooling fans... however I couldn't get it to work with its original power controller outside of the enclosure. So I took the fan assembly out and hooked it up to a 40A brushless controller for model airplanes and a servo tester. Enough power is provided by a 12V lead-acid car battery. Enjoy!

how did you connect your motor to the ESC?can u please help me to identify those wiring,i have that one too but i cant run them because i am so confused how to properly connect them + -?

Hi! Well the ESC has 3 wires for the motor, and the motor has 3 wires too. Just connect them. Worst case the motor will run in reverse direction, then swapping 2 wires should fix that.

@@maricelramirez6001 no because the esc needs feedback from the motor to run it and if you connect two motors to one esc, the feedback from one motor can interfere with the feedback from the other one.

i bought one and i got a different version. It has a 50V motor; that you can easily give more. I bought a 60V Bldc controller of ebay and that thing now draws 460W and is insanelympoweful

What is the maximum voltage that this can handle? 16v?

It's rated 12V. So it may still cope with 16V, you'll just have to try it out.

@@robafilm2938 can i replace its motor with rc edf motor which has a higher kv rating than this motor have? Because up to now i dont havr any idea what size of the shaft of my C7000 Fan cause i dont have vernier calliper here havent buy yet.

Hi! No I didn't do anything special with the ESC, I connected the three wires from the fan the same way I would from an RC-Plane motor. I only attached a servo-tester to mimick an RC.

But I think that only affects the rotation direction. Is the ESC beeping? How do you control the ESC? @@robafilm2938 connected the fan to another brushless motor control.... and the fan caught fire..... though my friends c7000 worked fine on it.... EBAY JUNK EVIL BAY told me no refunds, because i burned out the REFURBISHED FAN $18.00. lost. so lesson learned

They are two fans that are counter rotating, so torque is less than you might at first think.
