HP deserves a praise for NOT soldering RAM chips. Many of those small and light laptops come with soldered RAM turning them essentially into tablets without any upgrade options. If someone has made a mistake of purchasing laptop with just 8GB of RAM and later realizes it is not enough, with socketed RAM it can be easily remedied. If all RAM is soldered - you are out of luck. Of course technically RAM can be resoldered but that is not an easy or cheap option.

Unbelievable that HP still sells premium laptops with terrible screens. Great for upgradability, but this is just wrong. And also puting power button in the middle between other buttons is unforgivable.
@Dovecomputers7 ай бұрын
Dell do the same with these VA 300 nits display panels. Totally agree with the power button, such a bad design choice.
@davidk7397 ай бұрын
To be fair, the power button doesn't do anything if you press down on it quickly. Been using a similar model and I've had no issues for a couple years of daily use.

This is business model, meaning any company can configure their model for best efficiency, lowest cost for what they need. They don't need great screen, just buy lowest screen version. Easy
@danethorsonАй бұрын
@@trailblazer_ss in the most cases in the business people use those laptops with docks and external monitors. Although with Dell's MTP you do not even need a dock - just chain up to 3 monitors using their DP outs.

I think I'll go for the 845 G11 (with the AMD Ryzen 7 8840u). Very poor selection of displays in the UK, so I'll head on over to the US to buy mine.

The good: Good for business and data analysis, adjustable RAM, adjustable SSD storage, lots of ports, good web camera resolution, and comfortable to travel with. The bad: Ultra U CPU is ok. Better to get the Intel Ultra H versions. The iGPU is bad unless you get the Ultra H version with 8 core iGPU. The sound system is ok, but misses base sound. The display is usually ok with ok color accuracy. The web camera AI could be a bit better for this version of light and sound filters.

@wakaflockaproject In most years, HP ELITEBOOKs are not better than Lenovo ThinkPad T14 nor Dell Latitude 74xx (Dell Pro Plus in 2025). The Dell Latitude 7450 has better WiFi and screen resolution.
