I'm amazed at how you fixed those hinges !

I fixed mine it's not coming on the hardest part is prying it apart. It's the worst computers ever I'll never buy an HP again. They don't want you to fix it prying it apart is like rocket science! They should just give you access to the hinge right where the hinges are instead of opening the entire thing up

nice work but i don't like using hot glue on this kind of places ... i think the epoxy is more relaible ...

Hello, I am working on the same model. I have yet tried at other occasions the hot glue with good results inside the case, but here the case behind the screen is cracked and unglued. I think I will use the excellent T-8000 it is very strong. SOme presses may be involved for 8 hours . I tested that glue to glue together 2 pieces of leather and it resisted more than 15 Kg pulling without tearing. A very efficient glue, while always possible to soften it with heat - thank you for that video ! I thought of reinforcing with epoxy and fiberglass the back of the screen, but it may not be mandatory if the hinges are cleaned, lubed and regulated to be less stiff . Regards to all

The "Sorin hot glue" method again. Works like a charm. :)

Here I am paying 90€ for a new back case after trying with epoxy and you just fix a job twice as hard as mine with hot glue I'll cancel my purchase and get on that right away. Thanks Sorin

That is always the problem with the laptop hinges, not the metal itself but the plastic material attached to it. I believe to make it stronger it ( the hinges) should be attached to some sturdy metal frames to the bottom and top body part. However in your case here.. I would use a ''weld grade glue", to make it last longer.

I use two part epoxy like JB Weld for these repairs but it requires setting up for hours or overnight for max strength

I always take out the hinges to clean them, oil them (as wd40, may be I could use light grease too) and regulate their stiffness, they are the ones that helps to crack the case. on mine, luckily yjr crack is on the screen side , (and even better, it is more an unglued part than a cracked one, there is a black strip along the screen back cover that is really not ideally located and can come unglued if the hinge is too stiff)

I am having charging issues with my M6..The volts from the wall is fine, but when I test the plug after the brick, it gives a voltage reading that jumps all over the place, from 18v to 40v and in between. My adapter is rated for 18.5v. Also it won't charge my laptop anymore and forced a shutdown which prompted me testing it. What do you think?
@steveolsen2164
@steveolsen2164 6 жыл бұрын
It sounds like you have to much AC on the output of the brick. Probably a failed capacitor or 2. Dremel tool to open the brick as long as it is not epoxyed inside otherwise replace the brick.

I would not buy an HP laptop ever again if someone had a weapon to me. They are some of the worst designed laptops on the market and almost all of them have fatal flaws that end up costing the user tons of money to repair(if it is even worth it).

Do the customers ever explain how the damage happened? Also you handle so many filthy devices like this one. Why not quickly use a disinfectant wipe or something to clean them a little before you work on them? Or at least sanitize your hands after? Yuck!
