Thanks a ton for such an awesome in-depth first impression video which is more detailed than some of actual reviews. Also another thanks for choosing the higher tier config with 4700u, 16gb of dual channel ram and the higher end 400 nits 72% NTSC panel...we have seen too many Ryzen 4000 reviews with 4500u and dim 45% NTSC 250 nits sub-par displays. My only complain is the unavailability of a 2nd m.2 slot for storage expansion, considering the size of the laptop. Just below the WiFi slot, there is good amount of place for a second 2280 slot. Also, Envy is HP's 2nd best consumer series after Spectre and I would like to see the 300 nits panel as default to the 15 inch model instead of the 250 nits 45% NTSC display, like the 13 inch version which comes with 300 nits 72% NTSC as default option.

Thanks for the hard work as always sir! The Spectre x360 15" with Intel i7, 16GB, 512GB, WiFi6 is about $300+/- more than this Envy x360 15". When both the RAM and SSD is upgradeable, that fact makes it worthy of purchase. Generally, companies overcharge for upgrades and it's better to purchase the lowest RAM/SSD and upgrade yourself. Although the battery is replaceable as well, it's not as easily accessible and thus, ability to add on a spare battery is negated and means you have to carry your battery charger. I appreciate you Andrew getting to the heart of the matter of what most viewers need to make an informed purchasing decision with your unboxing... & all under 12 minutes. I got the same machine that you have reviewed- I wanted a 2in1 for drawing and typing. I'm not a gamer, I just wanted to draw and continue to explore digital art. I started with a Wacom Bamboo and then a Wacom Intuos. But I wanted something I can draw on the screen and not attach to another machine. There are other impressive machines but they seem to have lots of bells and whistles I do not need. It looked more powerful than the13inch Intel i5 Spectre. So it became a straight decision between the two 15 inch machines- the i7 Spectre and the AMD Envy. In the UK, the tilt pen comes included, no extra cost, for £999. I went with the Envy as I do not need to game, just draw. It's a great machine, easy to use. I may be easily pleased, as it flips between tablet and laptop mode so easily. The drawing drawing experience is pleasing. I liked Wacom pens, but the tilt pen is very responsive. I may add a matt screen protector as the pen glides more than the resistance you can "feel" on real paper. But it's a screen, so that's expected. I use Corel software and ArtRage, all of which work very smoothly. I have a HP Elitebook for work and was impressed with that, so that's why I explored HP 2in1's. I don't normally put much stock in how a machine looks but it is a good looking machine and housing seems of a higher price point. Not usre where I've been, but I'd not heard of AMD, ut I am now glad I took the time to research my options as I may have overlooked the Envy.

I have this laptop for about a month now, 32Gb version (upgraded by seller) which I bought for $979 new on Amazon. I love it, except for the screen which is a bit dim in some circumstances. Apparently, I have 250 nits version. But in 95% of time it's totally fine more, screen wise, but if you like to work outdoors often or under direct sun light, than it might be the problem. This is the only downside that I can think about. Thermals are good on this laptop, I use "Quite" mode in HP Thermal profile. The fans are on and off, byt when they are on, they run quite, so it's good enough for me.

Looks like a winner. ...when showing the performance numbers forthis system can you list them next to perf numbers for a similarly configured Intel system (e.g., i7 with 16GB of systems) as a point of reference. Thx. 51watt hour battery...wow, that seems very small for a 15.6" system...I'll be very interested to see what kind of battery life you get with it. That seems like a potential weakness of this system....so I'll be interested to see what it can do.

It has a 15W CPU and no dedicated GPU. My bet would be 8-10 hrs of normal use.

Really seriously considering this purchase. Thank you so very much for posting this. It helps me so much make my desicion. Waiting to hear about why you updated the pen. Im not super knowledgeable on computers...why did you choose the wifi 6? Does the Bluetooth come on just a standard purchase?

Thanks! Wifi 6 is more future proof so I would go with that if you can. Also, bluetooth is standard on these machines.

Cooling on these looks good. I like the 400 nits option for the display.

I really want to know if I could do 1080p and possibly 4K video editing on this configuration of the Envy X360 15. It would be awsome to hear that in your full review. Thanks.

Hp should fixed the pen placement position in their machines like we have in Lenovo yoga C940. But the best part of this device is that it has both RAM & ROM upgradebility!! Which is quite impressive 😉

Thanks for the video. whats a good laptop for trading stocks? thinking of the Lenovo Legion 5 with ryzen 7 4800H, gpu 1650ti, but I'm concerned that the graphics card isn't powerful enough. what's the most important 2 things to look for in a trading laptop? is it CPU power and amount of RAM 3200mhz or CPU power and graphics card capability? currently the ryzen 5 4600H with 1650ti gpu, 16GB RAM ddr4 3200mhz is underpowered too slow and freezes when I have multiple charts open. i7 10750H,gpu2060 wasfast enuff but too expensive. Highest gpu withryzen 7 is 1650ti,not2060. your guidance is appreciated

Can you do a comparison between the HP Envy x360 and the Lenovo yoga C940. Both 15.6 versions?
