I have the HP Spectre X360 (2015 model) and I have to agree, the keyboard is one of the best. This video is a bit light on details, probably because this was 6 years ago and maybe, one of your earlier videos. I replaced the battery in my Spectre X360 and all is copacetic again. I haven't been able to find a pen that works with the 2015 model. I'm told the touch screen was changed between 2015 and 2016. I wish there was a straightforward compatibility table. This is the video I used to replace my battery, notice the battery is a different shape. If some needs a 2016 battery, it's available for $40 + shipping.

Dear I use it moderately, this laptop isn't for heavy usage(e.g video editing, heavy gaming) although it can do a lot of work. So that is why i easily get 4 hours plus battery timing :)

I did use this machine @best buy here in Canada and I have to agree the keyboard is one of the best to type on. When it comes to the screen size I think this is a big looking laptop although it is 15.6 however I could be saying this because most of the times, I have been using a 13.3 inch machine which I think is a little more realistic however it depends on your lifestyle.

This laptop has a screen factory defect . Just make the windows background solid black and go into a dark room then watch for the white flares in the top edges. I discovered this while watching a movie in a dark room .

xaxaxa Well if u watch movies with black bars in a dark room this can be annoying ... so now I ordered another one from Costco NOT 360 just the standard touch envy as soon it arrives I will test and write another update. Overall I give hp an edge over ASUS from the fan and noise .. hp did excellent in this area and gives u more control over the fan ... the envy keyboard is the top of the line over all laptops in the market today it's fantastic .. it reminds of old Asus K series 2011 models ... Lenovo screwed up big time with there models this year they have serious issues with keyboards and almost removed the numeric key pad from all their models ... no doubt the envy is a killer in market !!!

MoonFaker The sound quality is great when your in desktop mode, but when your in tablet mode/ stand mode the sound gets muffled a bit because the stereo speakers get covered. You can adjust the bass, treble and dialog clarity with the B&O application. It has an equalizer with presets to choose from or you can adjust it to your linking. :) I really don't use the speaker much as I have a Bluetooth speaker connected to it and Bluetooth earphones when I go out with it x).

The quad core are definitely better, but this laptop can still handle video editing well. I have been editing all of my videos including this one on this laptop and gave me no issue in exporting 1080p videos. It roughly takes about 22 mins to export a 10 min video depending on how many effects and layers you have on the video, but its been serving me well for video editing.

I payed the same amount for the same laptop, but I only have 8GB of ram :( But, the GPU isn't entirely useless so it's okay. Does your's also have a NVIDIA 930m? Glad you mentioned the SSD. After installing my SSD, my reboot is at 30 seconds or less. Install an SSD! Noticeable increase in performance across the whole system.

+bmwstrike731 Thanks, what is the average battery life your getting. Mine averages 5 hours of moderate usage. When I put it on "power saver" on the power plan setting and turn on "battery saver" on home screen with brightness at 0% and with airplane mode enabled, just on WiFi I managed to get 8 hours on just browsing web and watching videos but not close to the 9 hours and 45 minutes it claims. Give that a try if you haven't already and if your only going to be browsing web and watching videos.

Are you sure there is no way of disabling the adaptive brightness? there are usually two settings that must be disabled, first is the Microsoft one via advanced power plan settings "Enable Adaptive Brightness". The other is usually Intel Display Power Saving Technology, this is found at..... Intel HD Graphics Control Panel > Power > On Battery > Display Power Saving Technology.

What I meant was that there is no on and off toggle where the screen brightness setting is. You need to dig deeper. You can turn it off by going to the power and sleep settings. Then to additional power settings. Then on change power setting. Then on change advance setting. There will be a list and scroll down to display. A drop down list will show up and the last one will be "enable adaptive brightness". You can then choose when you want it to be enabled such as when it is running on battery or plugged in or completely turned off.

Thanks for the great video! I just picked this up and was very excited, until I read some reviews about poor Envy 360x wifi connectivity. According to HP and some reviews, the laptop is not dual band compatible (no 5ghz wifi). I am trying to determine if that information is outdated. The bottom of the laptop is removable so you can access the battery to replace it. In my how to video for this laptop I took the bottom off. It takes a bit of patience. This has 2 USB 3.1 and 1 USB Type-C. They are listed as 3 USB 3.1. I don't know why they don't have a blue color to them but if you see inside the port, right above, you can see they have the extra 5 gold pads needed for USB 3.0.

You will need a Torx 5 bit labeled T5 or sometimes they are referred to as security bits but still have the T2,T5 label on them. You can get a set for under 20 at most hardware stores or online.

I haven't been able to find any pen that works like the HP active stylus. Sorry, but I ended up buying a drawing pad which works better than a regular stylus. It wasn't the best so I ended up buying the ASUS transformer mini 2 in 1 tablet as I am going to be trying digital art myself :D. The tablet has the n-trig pen. It is awesome with palm rejection. I bought the same laptop 2 weeks ago for 799 at Best Buy too, I put in a Samsung Evo 850 SSD drive and I have 32 GB of ram coming in the mail later today, its after midnight here. I was wondering if you noticed if the motherboard had an M.2 sata port, if it was able to add a secondary SSD. I want to take it apart as little as possible since I already broke one of the tabs that holds the bottom case on. Just curious if you remember seeing anything. Actually, if you look closer, in the blank silver space under the fan, that's your slot for an mSATA SSD. I just installed my G.Skill RAM and I looked everywhere. Seeing that totally made my day.

I am still going thru the HP forums and waiting on others to verify, but from what I can gather, it either takes an M.2 2280 form factor, or PCIexpress. It has the pin configuration of a PCIexpress slot, but other forms say you can also use the "m" and "b" key pin configuration in that slot as well. But again, still waiting on verification

+Talha Saleem This is still my best investment. For the price and the specs, it is a great deal. I haven't had any problems with it. The only issue I had was was some light bleed on the lower right corner of my screen which I didn't notice until after my review. Besides that it has performed amazingly well.

Im thinking of buying this but my last experience with HP was bad because of the hinges even though used the laptop with care. How is the battery life? would you suggest me a better laptop in the same price range? And why didnt you use SSD along with HDD. Ive been told that laptop supports both.

I would recommend looking at the newer model. The Hp envy x630 2017. I have no other recommendation since I haven't tested out that many laptops at this price range. The reason why I didn't keep both the SSD and HDD is because there is only one 2.5" slot for either the SSD or a HDD. The other slot is for a M.2 Sata internal SSD.

I just got mine in the mail and I noticed the backlight looks horrible on black screens. Does yours do that too?

Lambchoppeee yes it does! I thought mine was just a bit defective but it is horrible on startup. Since I don't really have the screen pump up all the way I didn't notice it until later when I had my screen brightness at 100 when i shut down so I turned it on again and yup there was a lot of bleed through on the left side of screen. What about on yours?

Kaneco I been using it with Adobe premiere pro to edit 1080p video and it's been handling well for the past 6 months. I would say it's good at video editing. I haven't really used Photoshop as much though. I only used it a couple of times and it was great.

+Irie Jimenez the HP and Dell active stylus didn't work with this laptop /: I have been using a capacitive stylus with the rubber part at the end. It's been working good, I have one with a fine tip. It's a shame this model isn't compatible with the HP active stylus.
