What did you guys think of this video? Anything i can improve on? I like to help people out if they want to try this on their own!

you could improve the title: hp shipped a serious design flaw by using a shitty plastic part with threaded inserts for a critical point in a 1000$+ laptop
@willfix1t2 ай бұрын
Yes indeed, this is so true. I might think about changing it to something like this. 😂

The video was great. It actually convinced me not to dive into this once i saw how much was involved. I'll just leave the cover open.

@@willfix1t but actually it helped SO MUCH. instead of buying another back cover for 50€, i bought 2 part metal epoxy glue and just glued the threaded inserts and the hinge to the case! i'm putting it back together right now, and i could never ever have done it without your video, thanks so much man!!!

Hp should do it for free. Why in the world did they think it was a good idea to use plastic reinforcement/bracing... It should have been hardened metal housing as part of the panel backing! Have 3 of x360 envy and they all got hinge backing plastic crap broken. I have ordered one of the panel backing and will try repairing one of them.
@willfix1t4 ай бұрын
Your absolutely right, it’s a bad design from the start but it is more practical being that plastic is more lighter than metal, if they implemented just the bottom half of the back cover metal it can work instead of the whole back being made of metal and adding a considerate amount of more weight. I guess they look at it from the consumers POV but don’t really care about the cons etc; not alot of people like you actually become aware of the problem but instead think it’s their fault for breaking so kudos to you for figuring it out.

This happened to mine - not really worth spending for the repair on a 3 year old laptop, I managed to get the hinge back into position then flexed it a bit and dripped in some superglue (medium viscosity) and then pushed it back into position. Looks fine and the lid works as before. If you get superglue everywhere it's not going to look great though. (I did think of drilling a couple 2mm holes though the back and fastening with small countersunk engineering bolts.)
@willfix1tАй бұрын
Nice, glad you could snap it back in place. The super glue is a great idea. I did that one time, i drilled 2 screws on a laptop and it worked. lol

Do you remember the exact model number of this laptop? I have a 15m-es0023dx and I am looking at replacement back covers and the screw placement looks slightly different than it is in your video. Just want to make sure that I am not buying the wrong back cover replacement.
@willfix1t2 ай бұрын
Hey, i don’t think i remember the exact model of this one … i should have wrote it in the description but i didn’t think about it at the time. Every hinge is usually different so i would type in the model number + hinge and you should get the correct part

My hp 360 back panel cracked completely. Like there’s a gap between the hinges and plastic and some panel. The screen is working well but I can’t open or close it. Any tips on fixing this? I tried the super glue but couldn’t work.
@willfix1t10 күн бұрын
Hey the only way is to replace the back panel for a permanent fix. Like exactly what i did in this video is how you would repair it… no really temporary fix to be honest with glue or anything
@ghosty21634 ай бұрын
Hey do you have a link to where you purchased the back panel?
is there an alterative quick fix for this? my screen seems to be popping out when i try to close it furhter and open it further becuase of the hinge. I'm afriad to close it and the screen gets more messed up. Currently, the PC is working fine i just can't fold it down all the way or open it all the way
@willfix1t3 ай бұрын
Try holding the corner of the screen or holding the hinge with your hand firmly every time you open or close it
