Yeah. That depends on your existing peripherals and future plans. Because even this USB-C port can charge and give a 4k display output. I don't have a thunderbolt monitor so could not test both simultaneously.

Using HP Envy x360 from past 2months. Its a beast. HP nailed every aspect of the laptop this time. Feels ultra premium and looks stunning. My model has Ryzen 7 4700u with 16GB of RAM. In Cinebench R23 it score 7057 in multi core and 1200 in single core performance. Crushes intel i7 11th gen chipset by a large margin. AMD over Intel anyday.

Touch response would be similar. I have not used the pavilion, unfortunately. Also, it all depends on your use case. If you cannot love without games and need thunderbolt, Intel. Amd is better interns of thermals, battery life and performance in day to day CPU intensive tasks.

Envy is a better finished product, especially for the build quality, materials etc. Pavilion is chunky plastic and looks cheap. Also the Envy is better in terms of weight and has a nicer display.

If you want to be future proof I'd suggest the 16GB ram variant. Because this has Low Powered ram (LP-DDR4) so it's soldered. You can't upgrade it.

In that case I wouldn't recommend it. It's not easier. Your laptop will definitely last long in the 8GB. The concern is only how well it'll run. I'd say save the 23k now, you can invest it even if it past a year less as per your expectations

Since, I have this laptop, one thing that I want to point out is that there is a design flaw with the placement of the power button. Since it is a convertible, it should have been placed on the side to wake up the device in tablet mode. Also, there is no double tap to wake feature. So many times, when the laptop is in tablet mode, to wake up the screen, you need to switch it back into laptop position. I tried to find if there is a workaround on this, but apparently there is no software solution from HP. Did you encounter this issue?

The 5500U is based on Zen 2 and not Zen 3 so not a huge upgrade. So in that case I'd go with the Envy for better build and nice display.

Using the 2018 model with the 2500U. I really like the design of the laptop but the build quality wasn't that good. I actually like having the home / page up / page down keys. Performance is more than enough for my needs. It heats up a bit faster than I'd like but not a major issue since I only use it on a table. Overall it's a good laptop.

I'd pick the Zenbook that I had reviewed but it's almost not available anywhere. It had a slightly bigger screen, better thermals and the angled keyboard helps. Also the keyboard layout and quality is what I prefere on it with few things like Windows Hello facial recognition. But the Envy has a brighter screen and nicer form factor.

Hey bro, the said laptop do have night mode. But in complete darkness it's screen brightness is quiet bright for eyes. Is there anyway to minimize the brightness? Is there any 3rd party application to minimize more than the manufacture provided?

The night mode it has is just a blue light filter. The minimum brightness is very low I'd say. There are third party apps for sure but I can't name any at the moment. I'm sure Google can help with that

Oh I'd go with the former. Lenovo to be precise. The value for the hardware inside is better. But I'd suggest to look into some reviews for build quality, display, speakers. Not to mention battery life because if both laptops have same sized battery life, it'll be lesser on the Lenovo due to more powerful CPU. The HP is thinner lighter and has the touchscreen. But lacks a few ports like HDMI. I can't conclusively recommend as I have no used the Lenovo. But here are some points you can look into and make the decision. Hope this helped (atleast a bit)

Everything depends on the thermals, I/O and other stuff like keyboard, trackpad, display and speakers. Hp has great speakers, display and a good keyboard for most people. I/O wise this has no HDMI, LAN cable. So yeah.
