I have an HP Envy that I bought in 2013 so I've had it for 8 years now. I still use it to this day. The only problem is the hinges which started to go bad after the 6th year of using the laptop. I'm not able to close the laptop anymore but uses two clips to hold the screen up. It is still fast and meets my needs (working on so many excel sheets, documents, Photoshop, etc.). Nice ! I asked you to review this laptop a few weeks ago, because I wanted to buy it. So thank you very much for doing a video on this laptop ! :) I already bought the laptop in July and I have to say I love it ! It really works perfectly fine for : - photo editing (luminar 3) - video editing (davinici resolve) - university (one note) - media comsumptiom (KZbin/Netflix) I have to say I was especially surprised by the speakers because they make you feel as if the sound would be sourranding you! I choose to buy this laptop because I needed a Convertible for University, but I wanted to have a colour accurate panel for photo editing, too. This convertible is the only 2 in 1 laptop with a good colour accurate panel under 1000€ to this date. I purchased the variant with amd 4700u and 16gb ram for future proofing 🤷♂️ Edit: In my opinion the ssd is really fast - it takes 10seconds to boot and log in via finger print - very convenient ! I dont have any other laptops with ssds to compare it with , though...🤷♂️

Let people have their own personality and traits. At the date, have been really hard for me to find a KZbin channel with such a good reviews, explained in a clear and clean way. It's such a mix of knowledge and communications skills that I dare to say it's nearly unmatched. Of course, there are channels like Linux, but those are different, they have their own personalities and if you see one of his videos you expect something different, but with Josh, it's kind of a minimalistic video, showing only what is important and relevant for the common user (0 bullshit). Thanks Josh for such review, it was quite good. HP seems to be quite serius about AMD processors, I would like to see a review of the HP ProBook series from you, due those are laptops that seems to be more oriented to professionals than to no-professional user.

This is by far the best deal you can get with Ryzen inside. There always seems to be a compromise with Ryzen laptops. Whether it is the screen, the looks or the components inside. Not with this device. It looks amazing, performs well and costs way less than its Intel counterparts. The only issue is the availability. I've been trying to get my hands on the Ryzen 7 4700U/16GB RAM/512GB SSD version of this device for ridiculously long time here in Czechia and only succeeded last week when one (yes, literally the only onedevice in the entire country) became available in one of local eshops. It's such a shame, because this is genuinely incredible device. One thing I'd like to add to the review: The fan noise can be noticable when it's charging and performing heavy tasks. That being said, when I'm only doing some light work and/or when I'm on battery, the fan usually completely stops. That's a huge change for me as i previously had a laptop with i7 6700HQ which was incredibly loud even when it was doing literally nothing. Funnily enough, this little device with Ryzen is way more powerful. I'd also recommend you to get the HP Rechargeable MPP2.0 Tilt Pen. Mine was included with the laptop and it truly unlocks the potential of the touchscreen. It also magnetically attaches to few different positions around the screen so you don't have to worry you lose it :)

Great video! [EDIT] I DO NOT RECOMMEND this product anymore. The hinges are faulty. The design of the hinges are very poor and will lead to breakage even under light usage, even as a laptop usage only and not 2in1. I advise you look for forums, twitter and shop reviews for hinge defects, you will be surprised. Many people cannot get their repaired under warranty, it took me a week of fight on the phone to make it happen. And some people will receive bills after the repair even if it was acknowledged to be repaired under warranty, be extremely careful. --- I have the one with the 4700u for several months, here is my advice : - Absolutely upgrade your BIOS, the fan speeds is way too high on old bioses ( FREE ) - Upgrade the realtek wifi&bt card to the latest intel (10$) - The heatsink is REALLY small and the fan quite uninpressive. Change the thermal paste (5$). A good thermal paste with a good quantity does wonders to make this things dead silent 99% of the time. SurfaceBook pen's work great on this laptop.

I picked up this HP Envy 2013 for school as my last Lenovo crapped out on me. Ive had the HP envy for about 2 years now and it's been a wonderfully reliable device. It can handle several tabs open at once I have yet to see it lag and I tend to have 7-8 tabs open at a time (albiet mostly low demand journal articles). The 400 nit display is beautiful for taking study break to browse youtube or netflix. The ram on my 8gb model is fast enough to enjoy light gaming (Runescape and LOL are my games of choice), I have not tried to play any more demanding games so I cannot speak to other games. The fan noise is very quiet and not distracting whatesoever. Lastly I love the black matte look of it, and it feels more premium and more comfortable to the touch than some comparable metal laptops which tend to feel cold. Highly recommended for students and professionals who need a portable device!

Hey Josh! I'm an engineering student on somewhat of a budget. My last laptop completely crashed after less than 2 years of use and I would like to avoid that situation again. I use a lot of spreadsheets along with the most common programs run by engineering students. What laptop would u recommend that will last in the long run?

I have coded only on laptops with 13 inch screens, and have had no problems doing so.
