This is the REAL fix! I saw almost all the other videos, tried all their fixes and of course, none of them worked. UNTIL I saw James' video. My issue was a knockoff cartridge that gummed up my printhead and triggered the forever alert that shuts down your printer. James knows exactly how to fix it! He's the best. Thank you very much, thanks to your video I was able to repair my officejet 7740 printer that was not used for 5 years. I tried almost everything, but the only thing I needed was to change the tape of the piece that is attached to the pivots that have the springs, that tape no longer worked and when I changed it, once I put the head, the printer detected it successfully and ready to print. Of course, for the time it was not used, I had to maintain the heads many times, until the sheets printed with optimum quality. Thank you again, best regards.

I have HP Officejet Pro 8600 and I am getting an error that the magenta ink cartridge is defective. I checked it with 2 different after market cartridges but get the same message. Do you believe cleaning will fixed this issue?

Hi. I cleaned and serviiced my printhead changed with new cartridges and the printer still gives me message " one or more cartridges appears to be damaged etc...". Any hint? Thanks

My print head and cartridges went bad long ago, but since I only use my 8600 to scan and fax my wife's medical files to doctors it did not matter. A few days ago the fax would dial, but would never connect. After testing I determined that the telephone line itself was OK, but whenever I plugged the line into the 8600, the line was"in use" just like I left a phone receiver off the cradle somewhere. I could input a fax number and it dials, but never connects to the receiving fax. I tried a factory reset and now get a setup tutorial that keeps repeating and no home screen appears. Is there any way to breathe life back into it to just have scan and fax available without buying a new print head and cartridges?

hello my friend, you did very good on your video. i learned a lot. i do have one question. My hp 8630 printer is very old. over 5 years. i see where the print head parks, a lot of ink everywhere. from past experience i know there is a pad to absorb ink. what is that called and how do i get it cleaned. you are the "man". The video is great, it explains so many aspects that are vague, thanks for that. I have a problem now with HP 8600 that I can't figure out. I ran out of ink and replaced genuine cartridges with compatible ones, and started to get an error that cartridges are damaged (even those that worked well). I bought a set of genuine HP cartridges and I am still having that error. I since tried to clean the printhead but with no success. Do you know what condition generates this "one or more cartridges appear to be damaged" error?

Hi You may check chip board in the peinthead. Looking at inside of the printhead , you may able to see the gold pin where the cartridge chip goes in. One of the pin got damaged by non hp cartridge It has after market chips on it . It usually thicker then HP original so sometimes it gives a damaged on the pin . You need to replace the chip board. I will make the video for how to change the chip board. If you do need working chip board, you may check on our website. I will list the items and upload video soon. That tape you are applying at 17:00 - does it hold strong? seems like a weak tape...mine got peeled off so i had to repair it today so i am back here :D When those foils damage on the printhead i have seen a few tutorials and people are attaching extra tape to push the original tape against the other part to seal it.. Why isnt it good to find a flexible glue like glue for foils, or shoe glue and apply the glue around the edge then attaching the old foil back? it does not work? i dont understand why other people are attaching extra tape, you are attaching a new tape... so why people arent using a flexible glue to glue back the old tape. Does it have any reason? Thank you

The tape for cell phone screens is very thin and super sticky. Did you have any luck fixing your printer?

@@xsietube i managed to repair it a few times but then it has gone forever. And i lost patience to search for another used printhead. I got that printer from a friend who wanted to throw out because had some problem but i managed to get it working so used it afterwards. It was a good lesson to me to learn that inkjet printers are not suited for my work so i bought a laser printer then. No worries if i dont print a few weeks

I bought new HP cartridges for my NP8600 PRO and I still keep getting error message, "There is a problem with the printer or ink system. I cleaned all metal contacts, straightened springs behind board. What else should I do? I can't clear the error from the printer. Any suggestions? THUMBS UP!!! great video.

Sorry for late respond. Printhead is dead. There is no other option to fix it . You have to replace the printhead.

I need to know what the name of the tool is used to remove those 'screws'. It's not a phillips or flat head screwdriver. I don't have any type of tool with the correct end that fits those 'screws" This is for taking apart the ink printhead as you just did.

They are called Torx. They come in different sizes. T5, T10, T15, etc. I have not removed mine yet, so can't say what is he using. If you buy a set, one of them should work.

Sorry man i dont understand. Could you please write it down? There are 4 holes in total, if the first is the ink hole- which holes (2nd? 3rd? Counting from ink hole which is 1st) do i need to cover with tape and why? I am assuming the 4th air hole should remain open so the ink can push out the air and maximize capacity. Thank you

hi there are only 3 holes. 2 & 3 taping because of pressure control , must take it off after ink filled up .

@@zsoltibitter8761 there is so many different way to filling up . but you can't fill up 100% unless drilling hole or breaking the ball . i cover all holes because let the cartridge pushing out excess air through the ink hole . that is why i pull out more excess air with syringe. you may also try it with your method. for more technical explain, i recommend to contact HP or find someone who can explain to you better. i am doing all this jobs from my experience. thank you

I have just bought another printer for cheap because it had the same printhead as my printer. But it was not used i think more than a year and the ink has totally clogged the nozzles. When i tried to clean it only the magenta passes a little bit of solution through. 99% of the printhead is clogged with dried ink. I have tried to submerge the bottom of printhead into hot water, then carefully inject distilled water with alcohol into it at all color locations but unfotunately the nozzles are completely blocked, i cant even inject the solution because of the air inside which is trapped isnide. I am afraid of pushing the syringe harder because i can tear the foil. Do you have any solution for this special case how to clean completely dried up ink from the nozzles? Thank you

Hi Sorry for late reply You may need special tools and strong cleaning solution for soak out. But old dried printhead is very hard to unclog . It is very hard to try without tools
