I checked out a display model at best buy and wow does that thing have the smoothest lightest hinge on it ever. I checked out the screen flex too which didn't seem like it would be a problem at all. The new omen's are super nice. A rtx 2070 model with the 300hz display would make an amazing laptop.

On mine my backlight went out within three weeks. I was shocked. And HWinfo reports my battery capacity at 68Whr instead of 70.9, so not sure how big of a deal that is. And I would kill for 8 hours doing nothing but KZbin, I can barely get half that. Either way, good review and I do like the laptop a lot!

For any developers out there looking to buy this laptop who plan you use windows subsystem linux wsl2 as well with this laptop. It currently does not work with this laptop in some configurations. From what I can gather it looks to be to do with the UMA memory allocation. HP have had many complaints about this but they seem to not be doing anything to fix it.

If you need to have it sooner than later get it when you can. But if you need to wait until August or later in 2021 maybe they will offer laptops with nvidia 3000 series gpus. There's just no current information to go off of for the new nvidia cards for laptops. We just know they are coming.

I got this variant in the U.S. for $1105 after tax from best buy with their $200 & student discount. I really disliked the sharpness of the laptop at first because sitting for hours on the machine would leave marks on my wrists. I found it weird that one of the fans is complete off at idle. But it's really due to the great thermals. I don't game much on it but it's awesome when I do. I really like the keyboard. I can type with almost no issues all the time and as goofy as the arrow keys with page up / down buttons Area is great. Hp omen contr center is basic and will bug out and show negative values sometimes for ram/cpu loads. Really wish the calculator button was programmable because windows default calculator is lame at best. I mean you'd only use it best IF you had a full numpad. Last thing is I'm a bit skeptical of that top vented area is used for actual improved thermals instead of just for looking good.

Will with future updates in next 2-3 years will we see games using multi core use for gaming rather then the old single core? I know its sounds funny but with proper software and... I believe it can be achived which will boost laptop performance also high.

I had last years model Intel CPU and the 1660Ti GPU, sold that got the RTX 2060 version. Because I'm a gamer and Microcenter has a great 14 day no questions asked return policy, I exchanged it for the RTX 2070 model. So I have tried all 3 with games, IMHO the RTX 2070 showed better performance. certainly chewed up the 1660Ti and I must say a few more FPS @ high settings in every game I played than the RTX 2060. Also The G Sync is only available with the RTX 2070 and higher...2080,super and Ti. Now I'm enjoying Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020(a very demanding sim)@ High settings with 60 FPS and 35-40FPS in places like London,NYC,LA... very GPU demanding areas. In conclusion the RTX 2070 is a whopper of a GPU BOTH the desktop and the MaxQ 👍 PLEASE DON'T get the GTX 1660TI version, it's outdated and no ray tracing, if that's is important to you. How can Jarrod say it's his favorite??? with a 1660Ti???? to each their own. If you are a serious gamer and want the best performance or close to the best from a laptop, spend the money, work,beg,borrow but Don't steal! and get the HP Omen 15 inch Intel CPU with the RTX 2070maxq and have fun with it, I promise you will💖
