We are back to do another HP OMEN 15 thermal paste replacement & Disassembly
to fix overheating with thermal grizzly kryonaut on a laptop. We will be working on the HP omen 15 2019 edition with the RTX 2070. Tgis laptop may well be the best gaming laptop under 1000 as the newer RTX laptops are going well over the 1000 buck mark.
I hope this video will help how to add thermal paste to laptop and provide you with a laptop overheating fix.

@@AstralApple were better for few days but now while playing the temps are high af. But no fps drops and the game is smooth. Before everything was unplayable, now atleast can do that. Tbh my temps were bad from the day when I bought it new.

Arctic Silver 5 you've mentioned, such a good thermal grease but in the mid of 2000s, don't get me wrong but based on the reserach in the same or similar price range we have Arctic mx-2 or mx-4 which offers a bit better temperatures.

Few tips. I can clearly see at 15:59 you did not remove the old paste from the heatsink before remounting. That can cause worse temps than before. Plus please blast the fans with air or vacuum them before reassembling. It makes my ocd flare up LOL.

After my extended warranty expired... I repaste my laptop I am getting totally new thermals! I used thermal grizzly and here are my highest thermals while playing Forza 5 CPU 95c and now it didn't exceed 75c GPU almost 80c and now it didn't exceed 75c thats huge difference for cpu without undervolting like before

I have an omen 15 5800h w/3060 and I repasted mine with Arctic MX-6 same as my desktop. It will take some hours for the paste to settle in and perform its best. On my 2021 unit the fans remain in place and the cooler comes out around it. FYI there are two screws at the back corners holding the heatsink down that you must remove and if all others are out it just lifts straight up.

Could you upload a full video with assembly? xD I'm trying to do everything right here and don't want to miss a screw. I'd also appreciate it if you'd tell me where I can find a manual for how many screws there are in this kind of assembly and what to screw in where :P

I'll try to get it posted here soon. Had a death in the family and been on breavment from work. So haven't been doing a lot lately 😕. As far as a manual I looked once before and didn't find anything with the number of screws. That's why like using a magnet and having a 2nd wide shot video recording lol, I've lost plenty of screws in the past.

have same hp omen with 8760h and RTX 2060...…. I just cleaned laptop exhaust fins and fan which reduced laptop temps by 10 - 15 degrees

I want to do this but am scared I might damage the hidden components, do you think I should still do it? I have up omen 1660 to core i7 it’s same size and shape as the one showed in the vid and we sent it to a repair shop for $90 just to get it back getting 97-100*c

If you are not comfortable doing it then definitely don't. It is an easy process. Repair shops will use the pads so it will be about the same as the default. You can tell them you want to have a certain type of paste put on and most places will do it.

I attempted this myseld today and now my laptop won't turn on. I have no idea why. Followed every step, but now when i try to turn the laptop on, the power button flashes off and on but the screen stays off and fans dont start up or anything. Anybody got any ideas where i went wrong?

Sorry took a bit to see this, really can't say you may been a new screw pack and cut the screw out, you could try mineral oil on it and use a small vise wrap around the screw to get it out. Just don't use something like wd40 that will not go well lol.

So i just changed my thermal paste using this video and i also removed the plastic peel of my gpu then after putting everything back on i booted everything was fine and decided to launch overwatch to test the temps for now i dont see any major difference in temperatures but i did experience huge frame drops for like 5 minutes and then i freaked out and closed the game, then i tried another game which is not that demanding and no frame drops there is there any chance it was because i removed the plastic peel of the gpu ? or does the paste just need some time to set

Plastice is more to keep the paste off the hardware, could have added too much or too little paste. Or type of paste can somewhat make a difference.

The Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut I used in this video is working out great! I have a link in the description. I also use arctic silver 5, which I've been using for years. The Grizzly I've used once before but only from customers request. First time I researched and used for myself here and really happy with the results.

Same here, I already repaste the thermal on my asus fx503vm , only my gpu went down from 89-92 to 75-85c. But my cpu holy crap stayed the same, still running at 92-96c.

It's awful how do companies get away with putting in hardware theat can't be utilized. It's like some 3070 laptops outperform 3080 laptops just because of thermals. It's really terrible marketing. And in my case getting an external GPU won't fix anything because it's my cpu that's overheating

@@ynot5643 So if you really wanted to low the heat, I suggest you to reduce the cpu load by turning on fps cap and reduce the quality. It does reduce the heat but it just so sad high end rig can't even play on max due to the thermal.

You can leave it on, did some research on it after this video. They put this on here to stop the pads they use from getting on the gpu itself. It won't melt or anything. If you do take it off it just be sure to keep the paste off of the gpu there. It can't be good for thermal being on it imo.

wow 97 degrees sheeeshhhh I thought my laptop was OH at 85... During demanding games like MW AC or BF I realized disabling turbo with throttle stop and disabling windows firewall which randomly took cpu usage up during gaming dropped my CPU temps to 85-87 and cleaning out my fans dropped it to low 70's to high 80's still this laptop gets hot no matter what you do, I've got it atleast 4inches up tilted and space for air, one thing that worked best was having a standing fan blowing right beside it full blast leaving my fingers cold and my annoyance high... was going to try replacing thermal paste and last messing with voltage but think I'm giving up and prob selling this eventually. not worth it imo

It kills nasty background sounds, compression and gating can help even Nvidia broadcast/ Rtx voice sometimes don't get some of the extra bg sounds. So my case my main PC runs hot in the room and my ceiling fan just rips into my audio and it's highly annoying. More than the music lol.. I did have the music up too loud in this video though, edited with my gaming headphones again. But yeah that's normally why.
