Hey, that's planned, currently we only have the installation of windows 10 ready in german. But it's pretty straightforward if you just added another SSD. Head to the Drive Manager (just type it into the search bar) and it should ask you right away if you want to initialise the new drive. Hit yes and after that you should see it available in the drive manager. Right click the new drive and format it. That's all there is to it :)

@@waseemibrahim7261 I went with the Crucial P5 M.2 NVMe SSD (1TB) for the price and performance. I believe so, you just need to pay close attention to the read and write speeds of your options (of course the size, it has to be physically compatible). Brands like Samsung, Crucial, Western Digital, SanDisk, etc. have a wide variety of options to choose from. For reference, don't go too far from the read/write speeds of the SSD that came with the laptop (that's a good baseline for beginners). But mine has been performing consistently for gaming and editing work.

Bro, I have no idea what I'm doing, but I just bought a Samsung 980 2tb SSD card to put inside of this laptop that I bought two years ago. I think it's this exact same one it's a 15-in 2021 Omen. It has the RTX 3070. I have two external ssd's hanging off the side of my laptop. It looks dumb lol. Also, I don't feel like this laptop performs like it did when it was newer. I mean, even the original games that used to play like butter are kind of Skippy and weird now. I don't understand it. So I'm hoping that with this extra internal storage, it will help, but now that I see this guy switched out the ram as well, I'm wondering if I should do the same? Edit: I successfully installed a 2TB SSD card and upgraded the RAM from 16gb to 32 gb. Now my laptop is running better than new! So fast!

An alternative to downloading all the drivers when replacing the SSD is to (1) clone the old SSD or (2) make a recovery thumb drive and then install Windows and the drivers from the recovery.

Super late comment, but on that new M.2 drive, aren’t you supposed to remove that tape over the blue part? I just took my computer apart according to this tutorial, and I noticed it looked like there was adhesive on there

That's what I was thinking. The one end of the cover is screwed down tight, but the other end is loose as you can see at 2:35.

It is thermal pasta, or thermal pad, it's plastic cover supposed to be removed but it's hard to notice since it does not have anything printed on it

Hello! In my Omen 15 both slots can take NVME and SATA drives. But this compatibility gives the negative impact on the NVME speed - it is reduced to the half because it uses only 2 lines instead of 4 (the other 2 are used to provide connection for SATA drives)

Most laptops I get my hands on have two slots but only one can take Sata and Nvme and manufacturers populate those ports with small Nvme drives, leaving the Nvme only slot free which really annoys me.

You'll need some sort of adapter to plug your new SSD in via USB for example and then use a clone tool like Macrium Reflect to clone your current drive onto the SSD. We are working on a tutorial for that as well, but it'll take a bit to complete it.

Hey, since you can double-sided M.2 SSDs, there is only the limit of what is currently available. Technically you can add up to 18 Zetabyte to a Windows 10 64bit Machine, so you should be fine :) If you don't want to end up broke I'd recommend going for 2TB M.2 SSDs, or even 4TB Modules if you can afford that. There are 8TB Models becoming available at the moment, but they are very expensive still. Also: It is best practice not to store everything on a single device, so you might wanna think about getting some kind of external storage - be it a USB 3.2 external SSD or even something like a NAS to dump the files onto. Otherwise, if the machine breaks, all your data may be lost.

Hey, that seems to be a rather different version from the one we had for test, since there is no HDD Slot in our test model. If you have 2x4GB Modules currently installed it would be best to swap them with 2x8GB or even 2x16GB since RAM currently is rather cheap.

Sir I have a problem my omen 15 seems to not be detecting my ssd and can’t boot. I created a iso boot drive to try and recover my pc and see if the ssd is being detected this way. If it’s truly not being detected would an option be replace the ssd and reinstall windows ?? Or maybe buy an external usb SSD with windows. Would these be options. And what would cause an SSD TO fail prematurely?? I’m very careful with this laptop and have owned it for not even a year.

If you're noticing that your usage of your laptop (whether it's games, work, or school) is using most of your memory capacity then increasing to 32GB is a good idea. The biggest factor on the performance of your laptop is the speed of the memory in Mhz. But there is no downside if you just want to upgrade to 32GB other than cost. I wanted to upgrade mine as I'm using almost all of my memory when using my Omen so I wanted to upgrade and I originally was going to go for 16GB but I saw at my local store 32GB for $90 USD so I'm jumping on that!

@@ryanw.2587 one of the things that i was worried about is the read speed assuming that all ram sticks have the same form factor if i were to buy a ram stick that doesnt have the same read speed idk what that would do to my laptop i dont think faster reading speeds would affect it in a bad way but idk what will happen if i add ram with slower read speeds than the oem one the whole idea is to upgrade not down grade on amazon i found a deal on ram sticks a 2 pack 32gb each with read speed of 3200hz idk if thats good for 160 usd or if there are better deals thanks for the help that clarified bunch of stuff

@@benjaminkaperday471 most of the ddr4 sodimms are the same, but there is two special ones. one is gskill cl18 and one is Kingston Fury Impact cl20, you will get benefit from these guys, also you must check rank of your memory, it affects timings.

Hi Thanks very useful. I think my model is completly same as the video. My drive died and fortunately i went to the IT department from the company i work for, i knew one of the guy and gave me one drive (250 GB) that he installed, he showed me bascially what you described in the video for the drive part. Question is.. now i have bought a new SSD of 1TB as i can insert 2 drives on this PC. Once i install the additional 1 TB, would you recommend me to re install windows choosing the 1 TB drive or it would not make any difference, in that case i leave as is and i suppose i can switch to the one TB drive for storage... Any advice on that is very welcome
