HP Spectre x360 Pen Demo

Lisa Gade tests out the HP Active Stylus digital pen with the HP Spectre x360 Windows 8.1 convertible Ultrabook. The Spectre X360 is compatible with the same pen that HP offers as an optional accessory for the HP Split x2, though they don’t publicize this feature. We test the pen, which uses Synaptics technology, with OneNote (desktop and Metro), Photoshop CC, ArtRage 4.5 and Sketchbook Pro. The X360 and pen offer 255 levels of pressure sensitivity and palm rejection. The Spectre X360 is a 13.3” laptop with a 360 degree hinge, sleek aluminum casing and Intel 5th generation Broadwell Core i5 and i7 CPUs. How does it perform when the hand writing is small? The writing test is very large compare to when a person writes on a piece of paper. It would be nice to use this laptop instead of papers, since it's easier to organize.

I think if you would write like a on a normal piece of paper you’d zoom in and continue with your handwriting so that it’ll fit you “size” :))

Great pen for note. Important to note that the erase button on pen does not work on OneNote desktop version.

Hey Lisa, I have this laptop and the flicker is driving me nuts! I'm getting motion sick, nausea and headache. You can see the flicker at the beginning of the video next to the Surface Pro 3. Is there any way to reduce this before it's off to ebay?

Windows 10 has some settings it enables if it decides your computer is TabletPC. My ancient Waccom equipped HP440TC laptop's pen works horrendously until you go in and disable all Windows gesture recognition rigamorol. And it doesn't seem to offer you the option of just turning them off for a subset of programs (your paint programs), you have to just turn them all off. After that your lag will go down, and especially those missing strokes, since windows won't delay sending data to the paint program until it decides your input isn't meant for it.

Hi, I'm somewhat confused as the salesperson at HP tells me that the early 2016 spectre x360 does not work with the pen. It's somewhat weird to have them say their products do not work and users saying they do. Planning on buying the P3A84AV_1 or M6W88AV_1 if they can work with either the hp or dell pens. Since this video was made in MArch 2015 is it possible that the early 2016 x360s do not work with the pens?Confirmation apreciated. Thanks.

Would you say that it's the Lenovo laptops themselves, the software or the pen that isn't really top notch? I'm currently looking at getting a Envy X360 just so that I can draw on my mobile work computer whenever I feel like it. But if it just can't handle it then I'll have to look elsewhere. The Envy x360 with a R5 2500U does however offer better performance overall than the Surface-products in the same price range. So I'm torn.

Wacom and N-Trig pens aren't compatible. Hi, i love the way you present your videos. Can you please make a similar video on Surface Pro 3 using the pen. Taking fast, regular class like english words in "Cursive writing". Something like writing 50-60 words , and don't fast forward the video. I have a joint-writing handtyle, and want to see the accuracy and speed of N-trig pen before buying SP3. Thanks :)

Definitely not a stupid question. Both HP and Dell use the Synaptics pen, so yes the HP pen will work with the pen-enabled Venue models.
