Thanks for making this I own one of these old ZV6000's. I actually had the fans fail and the processor overheat on it, this was several years back and I had it repaired. I recently ordered 2GB's of ram so I can upgrade it and max it out, as well as an Athalon 64 4000+ 2.4ghz to upgrade it's speed. As an auto technician I use it for programming/custom tuning pcms as well as surfing the web ect... It's been a great machine and very reliable over all! Again thank you for posting the video!

Excellent video, sir. As a longtime laptop tech myself, I respect the level of detail and thought you put into your work.

Dude, you're awesome! A friend of mine came here with her laptop crashing all the time because of overheating... it looked way worse inside than your model! Very good video. Although that in my opinion you used way too much thermal paste. So.. again thank you and greetings from Germany!

It's pretty straight forward. The older the laptop the harder the dismantle I think...You can do it if you have done a few before. Go for it!

@vettetech81 - Anytime! I have a couple of clients that use these for the same thing. It still has all the old Potts on it that wrk with your testing equipment. Still a great machine as long as you don't plan on lugging it around too much, this thing was a beast! Thanks again for watching and commenting.

Hey ParadiseTech, Your video saved me some time! AWESOME! But, I found a little quicker way. I removed all the back panel screws (Like you showed [Even the little hidden buggers]) but there I stopped. I found with a little prying (I used a plastic flat head screw driver) of the front of the bottem edge... you can pop the bottom off from there. Removal of the keyboard/monitor is not needed to get to the heat sinks and fan I found. Maybe I got lucky, but if this can save you time... Cheers! :-D

I own one of these also. I was looking for a video on how to access the internal RAM so I can upgrade it to 2 GB, which it is the max this mobo supports. Your video is very concise and professional without out all of the useless babble like a lot of the videos out there. You didn't show removal of the internal DIMM but I figure it is under that silver square of tape/ shield that you didn't remove under the key board. I am CompTIA certified in A+, Network+, and HIT-001 but I don't have a lot of laptop repair experience but welcome a new challenge when I can get it. I like the the screw box! Great idea... I will probably go and clean it out while I am in there. Thanks!

Very good video, thanks a lot. Dutch is my language, I know a little bit English, but I could understand every word that you said. I needed the way to find the Wifi wire only, but I followed your video to the end, because I was supprised of this reality performance, in real time. I follow also the comment of Stace Johnson. Some zv6000 has 1 or 2 fans. This depends on the speed of the processor, the CPU.

LoL @ myself. I Feel so stupid... I might have been useful for me to check out your awesome video, before taking down my own zv6000. Now I am turning "the old beast" into a fanless tabletop, because I basically broke every plastic part of the frame.

I'm glad you remembered the other fan. I'm trying to install Xubuntu in one of these, for a fellow who doesn't use anything but the browser (and is increasingly uncomfortable with XP). I found one of the fans not running. I can get an affordable replacement on eBay . . . IF I can overcome the intimidation factor of all those screws. I just wasn't sure if both fans were the same. Your video seems to show that they are.
@DonCrowder9 жыл бұрын
+Don Crowder I was wrong, they aren't the same but serendipity was working for me because the one I ordered is the right fan. Now, if I can just get the damned keyboard plugged back in I can finish reassembling the silly thing. :)

Thank you SO MUCH for this video. I have the same model. But yet I found out it only has one fan! The second fan, you were cleaning in last minutes of the video is missing! I have it for 7 and half years and I am pretty sure it wasn´t removed in service :-/. Strange. I have to replace the remaining fan, because it´s really noisy and it´s disturbing lectures. And it´s overheating (70 °C for CPU, 45-50 °C for HDD)

Looks great! I have a friend who has one of these and it's always running slow with the fans at full blast and occasionally shuts down from overheating. How hard would you rate the disassembly - cleaning fans applying thermal past - reassembly for this laptop? I've done this maybe 4 or 5 times with a variety of laptops / netbooks, but I'm not a professional or anything.

I need ure help, I have a HP pavilion Zv 6000 that stopped working some minutes after I put it on sleep mode, refused to come on, refused to indicate charging when plugged in. I took it to a technician to work on it but he couldn't do it, I'll gladly appreciate ure advice on how to get it repaired, thanks

There aren't 2 fans on this thing, I opened the place where there supposed to be a fan on the bottom cover ad to my surprise there was not one to cool the GPU! that is crazy
