Күн бұрын

BMW brand ambassador, Nate Kern, drops by Brock’s Performance to visit with his $78K, 320 lb. (dry) carbon-fiber-frame HP4 race bike (#137 of 750) in the trailer. After a discussing an unfortunate theft of the bike recently, Brock agrees to test the bike on the dyno to make sure the thieves didn’t hurt the engine. Listen to Nate’s detailed explanation of the ‘trickness’ going on in the HP4Race bike, including a talk about the traction/wheelie control electronics, swingarm and, WSB brakes. These items used to be considered ‘unobtanium,’ but are now available to anyone. Well, almost anyone…

NATE is a #1 GUY!! I have had the pleasure of interacting with him several times -- particularly at the Atlanta Motorsports Park, were he taught riding classes! KNOWS His Stuff...but doesn't have the "Big Head"...and is always polite and glad to talk with us 'little people'... I wonder if any of those 750 editions of that bike are still 'available'... just in case I Win the Lottery tonight...? BTW -- Still looking for some more Dyno work & reports on the Kawasaki Z900RS... My Brother ordered and got the First one in North GA, back in December... and I am hoping to get one myself pretty soon... (-;

@Irshad - No video required. We use a multiplier of 1.11 to establish crankshaft HP vs. rear wheel HP (due to drivetrain losses) on our dyno. 211 x 1.11 = 234.21 HP at the crankshaft.

@niro56
@niro56 6 жыл бұрын
You will find videos of bikes pushing even 190 whp on 89 Shell pump gas, smooth over the long term, no problem. Now if you put 98 octane on that same setup its actually going to make less horsepower, i'm not kidding. The difference was measurable even on 92 fuel. Fuel 'dirtiness' is a totally different issue. Even 98 would be shit if it was impure..

yes you can put in a stock s1000 rr the superbike kit of germany ... with the same specifications of this race bike... in alpha technick webb, with some options for engine tunning... very similar to wsb bmw specs... but a lot of money and the duration engine is very short... make this bike legal is difficult, no have papers of homologation,no frame identification numbers... etc...

@lametraserillos1
@lametraserillos1 6 жыл бұрын
a stock s1000rr make 180-185 rwhp... with exhaust+filter+ecu flash= 10 hp more (190-195rwhp) + race camshafts+ more compression ratio+ 102 octane race gas+ ignition tune+valve springs+race piston&rods = 20 hp more = (210-215 rwhp) is exactly like the world superbike engine of bmw motorrad... this hp4 race engine run at 14.500 rpm, and the wsbk engine run at 14.700 rpm... more power = more $$... hondas cbr 1000rr race kits are very similar but more expensive... hondas hrc is too expensive kits... but i think that a bmw s1000 with only exhaust and ecu is enough powerfull to a lot of fun... and no be a millionaire jaja

"If it did exactly what it does right now, I would say that bike was the best" Thats a big statement after BMW's single win at Silverstone. 👏 By no means am I saying this bike isn't awesome and hi tech, Im just disproving Nates statement thats its the "best". Today's BMW only races to promote their product for a short amount of time, they have no real commitment or passion for the sport or really motorsports in general. BMW Mottorad pulled out of racing to focus on emerging markets in India and China, basically positioning themselves as a scooter manufacturer. They even sold Husqvarna when bike sale were not a problem, now look what KTM has done with the brand ..They are just not a racing orientated company anymore like they were in the 80's. To be the ''best" you need world championships whether its wsbk or moto gp, I havnt seen too many from BMW lately. HRC machines are thoroughbreds, since 82 they have claimed more world titles then BMW ever has. You be the judge, simply to be the best you need results and championships.

Brad Quinn the bike is worth the 78 grand. Buy a brand new s1000rr & do all the engine work the hp4 has get the same swing arm & brakes & suspension you’ll easily be over 100,000. This bike is actually an amazing deal. Since it’s basically a WSBK bike

ZX10R Ant it's a full on races bike not a street bike is my point and the average average person could not buy that is my big point . Sure it's light and good as the rider is on the track. So in ur mind and keep cost in mind where's the H2 stand then .
@SteezeN
@SteezeN 6 жыл бұрын
Brad Quinn the h2 is a good quality bike but this bike has top of the line components, almost prototype. The brakes on the hp4 alone are a lot of money also I’m sure this bike also has a really sophisticated & very expensive ECU. The carbon fiber frame isn’t just some molded carbon fiber. The swing arms & suspension alone will cost more than your average new bike. This bike is actually made for the track & its so sophisticated that a mere mortal can get amazing lap times on it. This bike probably takes less skill to go fast around the track than a regular s1000rr bcus of all the parts. While the h2 is a mass produced bike with mass produced parts this bike has a lot of parts you will never be able to buy. The hp4 is the equivalent to a f1 car while the h2 is more of a Bugatti. Bugatti might make more power & be faster in a straight but the f1 car has basically all prototype parts & can out brake, out corner & maybe out accelerate a Bugatti.

Bikes like this are absolutely way out of anything I care about. Would I like a ride on one? Sure, on a racetrack with a full suit of leathers, hot sticky tires. Otherwise, motorcycling is so much more than 80 grand worth of expensive unobtanium. If a liter bike could make 415 wheel horsepower naturally aspirated, weigh 300 pounds with a tank of race fuel, and rev to 22,000 rpm, it wouldn't really matter. Set up an XSR900 and ride the snot out of it. I'm satisfied. Good sounds, really light, fat torque, reliable, affordable, doesn't require 6-figure income to pay insurance.
