Best recorded time was a 2:19.3 on saturday. Last lap of the final session I had a 2:19.0 predicted and they threw the checker at turn 10 :( Trackaddict is saying my theoretical best was a 2:17.5 with 9/10 confidence. If i put everything together perfect I could definitely see that being possible. Hopefully by march I'll have some new stuff on the car and I can get down below 2:17.
Went through the instructor clinic on Friday and had my first weekend of instructing. Had two awesome students. My DE1 student was on it from the first lap despite never being there before. Prepared a lot with videos and was up to speed super quick. Had great car control for how little experience he had and was a fast learner. Just pushed a little too hard in certain places. I as definitely holding him back a little bit, but safety is #1 priority... My hyperdrive student had basically no experience and only a vague idea of the track layout. It was super cool to kinda drive from the passenger seat (through coaching/instructing) and get him to kinda push the car and see how awesome driving on track is. He had such a blast and it was so cool to be the person who could show him how awesome driving on track is.
Oh... also I left my backpack with my gopro at home so sorry it's just phone on dash footage... I really like being able to see my inputs on video plus a rear view cam. Oh well.
Main thing I worked on to improve from last time was pushing more in hogpen. Mainly through carrying more speed and taking the kerb on the left hander to try and setup myself up for a better exit onto the front straight. Also realized I can keep it in 3rd coming out of the roller coaster instead of short shifting into 4th.
And also on my fastest lap I really sent it through the esses and just about lost it in turn 10. I was having power steering issues all weekend and mid save my power steering started working again. Super sketchy but I kept it together haha. got the car headed in the right direction and got on the gas to send the weight back to the rear tires and went on my way.
Wish I had some footage of the rainy session. I had a blast doing some durifto haha. I was driving like a bit of a lunatic lol. Basically hydroplaning over the whole front straight. Almost no grip in turns 1 or 12. Got a little sideways going into the lower esses twice as well. Very good car control practice :P
