This might be my favorite of Ekaterina's solo skating performances. What an exquisite artist and purely stunning skating!! She embodies the music with every atom of her body. What fluid, ethereal gestures and nuances with her entire body; I don't think that kind of skill can be taught, only polished and refined!! Just fantastically beautiful and mesmerizing.

it was so nice to hear the commentator saying at 3:24 "do i have the right perception that she does more on one leg than most of the other skaters?" that, coming from the male commentator (it's probably terry gannon who is not from the sport itself). if only sandra bezic could have expounded more on that comment specifically, and not just focus on katia's ethereal, graceful skating. katia even does more expressive skating than a lot of female ice dancers, then and now.

I completely agree, very astute observation on (Terry's?) part. I too wish Sandra would have elaborated more on the technical difficulty of skating on one foot than using two feet. I would have loved for Sandra to talk about Katia's edges, stroking, speed and footwork-she is one of the best skater's in the world when it comes to these qualities.

Oh it’s a good day when I come across a video here on KZbin of Katia skating in the early years shortly after losing her Sergei and making the transition from pairs to singles skating. And yes, same here.....I too wish that Sandra Bezic would’ve expounded more upon the “she does more on one leg than most skaters do on two”....absolutely! Everyone is so quick to repeat how ethereal and graceful and fluid and artistic her skating always is.....but they leave out so many other important aspects. It’s a shame..🙁

What a different journey to singles Katya took than all the others. In a sense, her path there, combined with her outstanding skills, makes it so even a little babble is all part of the story, rather than error. How could she be 100% without her other half? And yet she strives on.
