HPI Racing RS4 Subaru VS. Traxxas Slash

Pops had a motor failure with his Slash, so he brings out the Rally car to battle against my short course truck.

Cool run. I really like your track with grass on the sides and nothing to run into. I guess if you run your cars enough the grass won't grow back on the track. Very cool setup. 👍

Thanks! Track does need upkeep once in awhile, but usually stays pretty clean. We use the cars to "mow" the track lol

Nice comparison, I was sure the slash would dominate, but not. We were thinking that the green slash sounded strange, and the motor also blew, bad bearing? Great video, subbed 👍

I don't understand why your motors are burning out. Is it common with brush motors?

I'm not sure it's common. We only run our vehicles on this track. So the only type of driving we do, is what you see on the videos. We do run LiPo batteries. And we do run them all day. It may be a combination of my driving style and the short oval track that causes more heat than normal, which will (the heat) lead to fail. The brushless motors seem to take the abuse better. But I'm on my 2nd brushless motor too. I sent it in for replace/repair and Traxxas said the result was critical magnet failure.

@@digitaldriver1426 the brushed motors will only last so long. As for the brushless motors. I believe you are running them too hot. Check temps every now and again. Sadly I do not believe you can get a fan on that motor.

@@Jobro_Ya_Know I have a fan on the traxxas ESC. But yeah, not on the motor.I had a cooling fin on the traxxas brushed motor for awhile...did not seem to help. I agree, I think we run 'em way too long, and they get hot. I'm on my 3rd brushless motor now. We dont run traditional lap times, or traditional timed mite runs. Just free, for too long I think.

@@digitaldriver1426 I would recommend going with the slash 4x4. You can get a fan on that truck. I would run two if you plan on running longer. That should solve the issue.

@@digitaldriver1426 you could also go with something like a typhon 3s. It would run good on the track and you wouldn’t have to spend traxxas money lol. Really jealous of the track, looks great 👍

dont think its made anymore. (eBay for a used one?) This kit is from 2003. Tamiya makes a TT-02 with a Subaru body shell. Or, HPI does make the WR8 Flux WRC, but that is not this model.
