I'm finally building an Alza based Savage but my question to you is: How do you keep the M3 shock mounting screws from bending/shearing? On my other Savages, those M3 screws bend so fast on harder bashing. I have yet to find a solution but you bash harder than I do and I don't see yours breaking or bending. I use aluminum shock tower BTW and your tower to tower braces probably have the same effect.

Mine bend too, once in a while I have to straighten them up, but never broke one. The solution would be to enlarge the holes to fit m4 screws, or find m3 hardened steel ones...

@@mvtepixels Appreciate the feedback. Will look to see if drilling out the shock caps to 4mm is doable.

Wicked video, are you still running stock shocks?
@mvtepixels
@mvtepixels Жыл бұрын
Thanks! They are the stock shocks, but with thicker oil and around 10mm lower

@@mvtepixels hey man what do ya mean by 10mm lower
@mvtepixels
@mvtepixels Жыл бұрын
@@radiocontrolledmadness8119 Now it's actually 15mm lower, you just need to add a spacer inside the shock, below the piston, the longer the spacer, the lower the car gets, of course this will reduce the shock travel, but by reducing the shock travel you are preventing the dogbones from popping out, reducing body roll and reducing chances of bending a shock shaft
@radiocontrolledmadness8119
@radiocontrolledmadness8119 Жыл бұрын
@@mvtepixels very innovative, so reducing down travel makes less chance of bending shock shafts ? Would that be for things like sideways landings, u must know the savage well I did figure there was a proper reason for breaking shock ends not just them being to weak
@mvtepixels
@mvtepixels Жыл бұрын
@@radiocontrolledmadness8119 The bigger the shaft, the easier it is to bend, by reducing the travel you are reducing the length of shaft that is outside the shock. (You can search for "lever arm of a torque" for better understanding). It helps on sideways landings, crashes, but also on big jumps... in fact breaking shock ends it's very common on the Savage, they are very weak ... all you can do is getting better ones

This is the layout I’d like to go for but how’d ya mount the motor up front, that’s the alza diff setup right also if you do that do you know if you can fit the stock receiver box like so

First of all, are you planning on doing jumps with it ?

@@radiocontrolledmadness8119 To mount the motor in front you need to cut a bit off the servo holder, and you can't go bigger than 2200kv motors, you can't use the receiver box, it's too big, having the battery between tvp's is a tight fit... you also need to make a U shape brace to hold the back of the motor, the battery tray needs to be made out of a strong plastic, the right side TVP on the 2017 flux is weak, you need to buy a second left side or go with the new XL v2 TVP's, this setup was killer on jumps, but also a pain in the ass to work on, because everything was so tight between tvp's, my current setup is much cleaner, but a bit heavier, also because it's on a bigger motor...
@radiocontrolledmadness8119
@radiocontrolledmadness8119 Жыл бұрын
@@mvtepixels interesting, did you have problems with the 2200kv pulling out of the Alza mount also you managed to break/bend the stock tvp?
@mvtepixels
@mvtepixels Жыл бұрын
@@radiocontrolledmadness8119 The Alza kit may hold the motor, but will not hold the mesh between pinion and spur, yes, i did bend the right side one, the left one is still perfect, so i bought another left one on Jennys Rc to replace the one that bend, when the chassis slaps the floor on big jumps, the amount of impact the components inside the TVP's will take it's brutal
