I'm getting ready to put the new big red in my 4.6 Savage. With dual exhaust. Can't wait to drop it in
@backyardrcracing4 жыл бұрын
It’s nasty in the X. You’ll need a wheelie bar. If it doesn’t have one, order it up now. First run after break in and tune I was surprisingly impressed. So much I have the scratches on the top of the motor to prove it! Good luck with it and follow break in process!👍

your low speed sounds a bit to lean but nice vid
@backyardrcracing3 жыл бұрын
I agree! It was.
@thercguy24283 жыл бұрын
I thought that but before i said anything i wanted to see if anyone else said it this vid helped me learn how to tell if the lsn is too lean and what sound to look out for imma sub to this channel
@backyardrcracing3 жыл бұрын
Yes, when you let off the throttle and it sounds like Chewbacca you are lean. Tuning in general when you let off the throttle your rpm should immediately drop to its idle setting smoothly. If it revs up (Chewbacca) it is lean. If it drops below idle or Boggs = too rich. That said to get that result will involve the high and low speed actually. But in my case since we could tell the high speed was set pretty good i knew to try the low speed first. I was having to much fun at the time and knew it wasn’t extremely lean so I went for it. I’m actually still running this set up often. Check out some of my more recent videos the track has changed 💯. Thanks for the sub!

how does it perform vs the stock motor? I need to retire and old F4.6 in one of my trucks. I have an LRP Z.38R and that thing rips so hard, curious about this
@backyardrcracing3 жыл бұрын
I also run lrp motors in the buggys and have in the trucks. Surprisingly, they are comparable on a perforance level. However the big red roto/pull start is terrible. I would recommend removing it before installing the big red at all. But the big red is half the price. For bashing give the big red a try but buy the LRP .32 pull start as that mounts right to the big red back plate and just make sure you pre warm the motor regardless of outside temps.
@MrSqueek192 жыл бұрын
What spur gear are you running with it? I just can't get my big red to mesh the gears up smoothly
@backyardrcracing2 жыл бұрын
I believe at the time 46spur 17bell.

Hi new subscriber here, i was just wondering is that engine a direct drop in or do es it take some mods
@backyardrcracing4 жыл бұрын
Hey sorry didn’t see the comment till now. It was direct drop in. Just mount to your existing or stock motor mount, exhaust, linkage... and Go!

I’m thinking of getting one of these. Is the pull start as bad as some people say it is? Would my stash of Lc3 glow plugs work well in this thing?
@backyardrcracing3 жыл бұрын
That I’m not sure of. I run O.S cold or medium plugs and it runs good.
@backyardrcracing3 жыл бұрын
Oh sorry and yes the roto start broke 2 runs after breakin and the pull start broke I think the run after that. Ha I put a LRP pull start on it with a metal cable as the pull string. No joke.

Im having a dickens of a time trying to get my Bid Red to fit. The pull start bumps into the back diff case. What did you do to get it to fit?
@backyardrcracing4 жыл бұрын
Sorry, been away from KZbin for a bit. But, I had zero issues with that. The only thing I can think is, are you using an after market motor mount?
@cody5m13 жыл бұрын
So I’m not the only one having this issue stock motor mount also
@backyardrcracing3 жыл бұрын
Hey. Honestly to solve this I would get a roto start or pull start that fits the LRP .32. The stock big red combination roto/pull start is more than junk. I feel it’s because of the amount of compression the motor has and the fact that the stock pull start is junk. The LRP will allow it to fit. That said you should still be gentle with the LRP but it’s made way better. Good luck.
@stabski332 жыл бұрын
Is that a straight drop or do you need additional parts?? Thanks!
@backyardrcracing2 жыл бұрын
It was a straight drop in for me. Would recommend getting the LRP .32 pull start for when the original one goes.

Is it broken in yet? Also purchase the LRP .32 roto start now because it’s inevitable the stock pull start/ roto start will break.

The motor is still doing good. Aside from the pull/roto start taking a shit as expected. But I put on the lrp .32 roto start and it’s been gtg.

@@cody5m1 hey sorry I guess my notifications where turned off three months ago. Mine did when this video was taken but it didn’t last much longer than this video haha. I run a lot of LRP motors and had a .32 pull start lying around and it matched up perfectly. I did have an issue with that pull start after some time but I got good use out it compared to most others. But I put a losi roto start on the big red and that’s still good. One day my buddy broke his stock pull/roto start so I tried that on it and it works great so far.
